Juanita "Janie" G. Mendoza, passed away peacefully at her home on August 6, 2024, in Luling, Texas, at the age of 91. Born on March 30, 1933, in Piedras Negras, Mexico, to Catarino Rodriguez and Dolores Casablanca, Juanita moved to San Antonio, where she married Louis Mendoza. The couple then settled in Luling, where Juanita spent the majority of her life.

Juanita dedicated her career to healthcare, working as a Nurse Assistant and Certified Nurse Assistant at Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling. She furthered her education by receiving a Rehabilitation Technician certificate from Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital in Ottine. Additionally, she held a position in Social Work for Community Action, a community-based non-profit organization in Lockhart. Known for her kindness and dedication, Janie was passionate about helping others and providing support to families and individuals in the community.

A devout Catholic, Juanita was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Luling. She once served as a Guadalupana. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and commitments.

Juanita is lovingly remembered by her children, Louis Mendoza, David Mendoza, Richard Mendoza, son-in-law Jesus Salas, and daughter Norma Salas; grandchildren Nichole and Raymond Cardenas, Christina and David Sweatt, Chelsea Mendoza; great-grandchildren Nataleigh, Gracelynn, Cruz, Raymond Jr., Everleigh, Vincent Castillo, Alanis Mendoza; sisters Norma Lopez, Grace & Ben Ham, Thelma & Sam Elizondo; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis Mendoza Sr., brother Ignacio Rodriguez, sisters Elva & Raul Villarreal, Consuelo & Jose Lopez, and Margil Lopez, great granddaughter Amaya Alexis Sweatt.

Visitation and a Rosary service will be held at O'Bannon Funeral Home, 210 South Laurel, Luling, TX, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 5 pm to 7 pm, with the Rosary at 7 pm. A Mass will follow on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 500 E Travis St., Luling, TX. Juanita will be laid to rest on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX.

Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
