Kathleen McCool died to this world on July 25, 2025. Her final days, hours, and precious moments were spent in the peaceful, caring environment of a Hospice, accompanied by her niece, my daughter, Jennifer. Kathleen was 76 years old.

She was my "kid" sister, 6 years younger. She was a loving, brilliant and vibrant woman. All who knew her were moved by her generosity and humor. She loved to cook, giving lessons for many years. She was famous for her prepared meals offered with complete menu descriptions of each course and placed at each table setting. Good food, good wine and generous helpings of laughter, with few topics or personages exempt, were standard fare.

Kathleen was an accomplished artist of needlepoint. Her works both large and small, were an eagerly anticipated gift at birthdays, special occasions and Christmas, by all those lucky enough to be on her lists.

Kathleen often renewed her soul at the Morikami Japanese Gardens finding solace, centering and joyful hope there. She also worked as a volunteer at the Museum of Discovery and Science.

Friends and family looked forward to traveling to visit Kathleen and experiencing her tours ranging from Wild Lyle's Airboat thru the Everglades to bird sanctuaries galore or onto the latest exhibits at the numerous first class galleries and museums in the area.

Lest anyone think we're talking about a "goodie two shoes" here, know that she was the kind of person you'd want to just have a couple of beers with. I can vouch for that.

You will be deeply missed Kathleen, for a long time, by all those whose lives you touched.

There is so much more to be said about Kathleen and her life with us all. I'll leave that to others to tell as they remember and speak of her. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
