Kathleen Nickels Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2024.
Kathleen Staudt Nickels, aged 75, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Moorestown, NJ. Born in New York on July 13, 1949, to Margaret Ledwith Staudt and Eugene John Staudt, Kathleen was known for her selfless nature, quick Irish wit, and quiet artistic talent. She was a beacon of faith, humor and love, cherished by all who knew her.

Raised in Larchmont, New York, Kathleen attended St. Augustine's School also in Larchmont, NY, for her primary education, followed by The Ursuline School, in New Rochelle, NY, and later graduated from Chestnut Hill College in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania. Her career included roles at Texaco Inc. in New York, NY, and Colonial Penn in Philadelphia, PA. However, Kathleen found her greatest joy as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, where she created endless meals, provided a continuous stream of chocolates, and dispensed invaluable advice. She was also a cherished sibling, as she was one of eleven children: Susan, John, Margaret, James, Thomas, Mary Ellen, Gerard, Joseph, Anne Marie and Eugene. As a young wife and mother, she cleaned her home while playing Pavarotti, and instilled within her children a love of music, art and design, as well as a love for family and a devotion to God. She was accepting of EVERYONE, and although held many opinions, was the least judgemental person in a room. Perhaps her greatest attribute, was her wonderful sense of humor, no matter the circumstance. To say she will be missed, is the gravest of understatements.

Kathleen also enjoyed knitting and was a skilled watercolor artist in her younger years. She was a 45 year parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Moorestown, NJ.

Kathleen leaves behind her loving husband, James G. Nickels; daughters, Meeghan (Nickels) Mullin, of Radnor, Pa, Kathleen (Nickels) Boucher, of Haddon Heights, NJ, and Elizabeth Nickels, of Moorestown, NJ, as well as sons in law, Kevin E. Mullin and Stephen Boucher. In addition, she is survived by her adored grandchildren, Barrett Elizabeth Mullin, Maeve Kathleen Mullin, Molly Kathleen Boucher, Eloise Anne Boucher, Henry George Nickels, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Mary Kate Boucher, and her parents, Margaret Ledwith Staudt and Eugene John Staudt.

A Catholic viewing and Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorestown, NJ, on Wednesday, November 20. The viewing will be from 10-11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, with the mass to follow at 11:00. Kathleen will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. Her life and legacy will be missed and honored by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her, for they were truly the luckiest.
