Kathryn Magers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 5, 2005.
Private memorial services for KATHRYN ANN "KAY" MAGERS of The Woodlands, TX will be held at The Forum At The Woodlands, Rev. Don Kidd officiating. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at The Forum. Kay died at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital on March 31, 2005 at the age of 84 leaving behind a host of loving friends and family. Kay Magers was born the youngest of five children to Edwin & Kathryn Suits on March 15, 1921 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Kathryn graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1939 and attended Kent State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and was the queen of her Freshman class. She married Richard "Dick" Magers on Aug. 14, 1943. The Magers were past members of the Elk Lodge 285, Yacht Club, Plum Brook Country Club and the First Congregational Church all in Sandusky, Ohio. Mrs. Magers was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Bob and Fred. Surviving is her daughter, Mrs. Allyn E. (Stacy B.) Magers, The Woodlands, TX. Also surviving are her sisters, Wilma Bemis, Ohio and Jane Hommel, Florida. Kathryn had a deep passion for life. One would always find Kay with a smile on her face and she never complained even during the most difficult times. In spite of her thirty-six year battle with diabetes, a bout with ovarian cancer and other complications, she faced it all like a champion. On the lighter side, Kay was a beautiful, impeccably dressed lady who was a tremendously talented golfer. Other avid interests included swimming, music, painting, reading and flower arranging not to mention her highly competitive Bridge playing. Kay had an unwavering love for her family, and was a wonderful wife and mother. She had lots of friends throughout her life, and recently developed loving friendships with employees and residents of The Forum. She will be terribly missed and never forgotten by all who knew her. Her daughter Stacy and son-in-law Allyn would like to extend their sincere appreciation to The Forum, Consider The Lillies, and Windsong Home Health for the wonderful care they gave to our mother. Gifts can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
