Kathy Putnam Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2012.
1950 ~ 2012
Kathy Kim Putnam (Age 62) passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her five children and loving husband. She was born on April 10, 1950 to Rea Miller in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She attended and graduated Skyline High School - Class of 1968. Shortly after, she met the love of her life, working at Auerbachs and was married to William H. Putnam, February 13, 1969. They later were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She adored him and refused to be left anywhere without him. They were always together especially over the past several years. Dad displayed an unusual amount of vigor, compassion, patience and true, genuine love. Together they raised five children Paul (Kim), Josh, Kourtney Vickery (Clay), Carly Warnick (Spencer) and Joey. They have been blessed with 15 Grandchildren whom she loved and adored. She enjoyed her home filled with the rambunctiousness and excitement that they would bring.
She made lifelong friendships while living in California. These friendships endured till' the end. She made a concerted effort to show her kids the importance of keeping family and friends close by. Kim and her family moved back home to Salt Lake City, in 1984 where she remained until her death.
She always made sure to keep the mood light. She loved to watch the L.A. Dodgers & Utah Jazz games with us kids. She often said "she would have married Steve Garvey or Jeff Hornacek . Luckily I found Dad." She loved to laugh and keep others laughing. She would laugh and laugh until she had tears rolling down her face.
She is our definition of selflessness. Her heart was full of love and often led by example. It was not uncommon to find our mom paying for a families utility bill or buying groceries for someone anonymously. "Everything she gave, and nothing she would take."
She loved to watch and cheer her Children and Grandchildren in their athletics. Her cheer was easily heard on and off the field from the stands. She was loud and proud, no matter what event.
She showed us so much strength in her later years by fighting Alzheimer's disease with a will to be happy. She would dance, sing, laugh, and tease. She would often play a joke on us and with her big blue eyes, and her Diet Coke in hand. She kept us rolling through it all.
She is survived by her Husband of 43 years, William H. Putnam, Children , Grandchildren her Mother Rea Miller, and her 4 loving sisters 2 brothers and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by her Stepfather Cal Miller.
The family would like to thank the many friends, family members and Alpha Omega Hospice Care for all of the love and care over these past several years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:00am at the LDS Chapel located at 3070 East Nila Way (4140 South). I have fun memories of Kim when Kourtney was in Brownie Scouts with Jenn and Paul and Josh played football at Skyline while Chris was there. We join with you in missing Kim and send all of her family our heartfelt condolences.

To the Putnam Family,
While I don't know how each of you may be feeling, I do know how it feels to lose someone you love that left this earth much to soon. I enjoyed learning more about her and her fun sense of humor in a Relief Society meeting. She is a beautiful and generous woman. May you remember all of the wonderful things that made her who she is and carry on her legacy. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Bill & Family:

Tiffany and I are sorry to hear of your wife and mom. We remember good times in the Whittier 1st Ward. We pray that our Heavenly Fathers blessings will be with you all during this difficult time. I was out visiting a family this past Saturday and they had two picnic tables out front that the husband had made and I told them that I had been involved doing the same thing with my friend Bill Putnam. Peace be with you.
