Jim, Nick, Tom, and Tim,
I know there are no words to diminish your sadness or take away the pain. My wish for you is that you can find solace in knowing how much she was loved.

Though our lives drifted apart over the years through distance, I will always cherish the time I was able to spend with her as I grew up and in my younger adult life. Not everyone is so blessed as to have had an aunt so close in age. I do - and will always - treasure this special person and our special relationship.

My heart goes out to you. I know you know how much she loved all of you; we all know how much she loved all of you. You were her life. Thank you for making her life here on Earth happy and fulfilled.

Love, Kris

Dear Jim, Nick, Tom and Tim:
Aunt Kay was one of a kind. She was quick witted, had a great laugh, intelligent, fiesty and always had a comeback. You 4 men were her life and she was so very proud of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, take care of each other, know that Kay is watching over all of us and that I will cherish the memories I have of her.

To the Kraus Family,

I worked with Kay down at the Hennepin County Guardian ad Litem office. I was her first assistant. Kay and I started up the screening/collecting fees for the program back in 2002-2005. She worked so hard to get that program going along with other things and always did such a great job! I was always amazed at how intelligent she was and the things she was wanting to accomplish. I felt so honored to have been given the opportunity to work with Kay. Kay was my supervisor, my mentor, and most of all my friend. I will miss her deeply! They say that people come into you life for a reason - Kay came into mine for many!! Many prayers to all of you!

My sympathies to Jim and family. As a cousin I can tell you she was someone I truly enjoyed spending time with growing up. My first ride on a metro bus was with the "city girl" showing the "country girl" how it was done! What a special women! May memories sustain you in this difficult time.

Jim, Nick, Tom and Tim I am shocked and saddened by this news about Kay. We were such good friends early on in my nursing career. We worked together, enjoyed our friendship outside of work as well. We had our kids at the same time and I have such fond memories of coming over to your house so our kids could play and the adults could enjoy lunch together. Kay was fun, smart and a very kind person. It saddens me I have not been in touch for a few years. I know she was very proud of her boys. She accomplished alot but never would acknowledge her own strengths. I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my prayers and thoughts and pray God will give you all the strength to get through this...My deepest sympathy!!

Kraus and Umland families; My deepest sympathy to you all. I met Kay years ago in the Guardian ad Litem Program, she was an amazing woman. She and I quickly became friends and she was a wonderful mentor, friend and confident. I loved her quick wit, ability to see the good in situations/people and her tireless efforts on behalf of families and children. Kay's ability to be direct, yet gentle with people earned her much respect and love. The world truly lost a wonderful person. She will be deeply missed. Please know that she was most happy when talking about her family, especially her "boys" she was quite proud of you 3!. She also talked about her loving husband Jim and how much she enjoyed life with you. I will always remember her with a huge smile and lots of laughter.

I remember very well all the good memories I have of you and Kay as we worked together at Timesavers then on to Hickory NC and then to Goes in the Netherlands.

In your hearts forever she will live and stay. May God give all of you strength during these difficult times. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
