Mrs. Thomas was born in San Francisco, California in May 1929. She grew up in North Hollywood, California as an only child. Mrs. Thomas raised six children alone after being widowed unexpectedly.
Mrs. Thomas spent her work life doing what she loved which was cooking for others. She spent many years cooking at a fine steak house in California. Mrs. Thomas was a long time Simi Valley resident active in community and school activities.
Desiring a change from the frantic southern California pace, Mrs. Thomas packed up her family and moved to South Bend Washington in 1977. She continued as a cook in South Bend where she worked in several restaurants. Mrs. Thomas's last job was as a cook for the Pacific County Jail. A testament to her skill was a note passed to her from an inmate worried he had eaten his last meal as it was "so good"!
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Eugene Thomas and one daughter, Kathy Loreno.
She is survived by her four sons John, Jay, Jeff, Eric, and daughter, Kelly. She is also survived by her seven granddaughters.
Mrs. Thomas will be remembered for her love of her children, her compassion for others, taking in stray animals, the strong work ethic she instilled in her children, and her love of reading.
As reading was such an important part of her life, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, any remembrances be made to the South Bend Public Library for book acquisitions. West 1st and Pacific South Bend WA 98586.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 12, 2010 at 1 PM. At the Thomas residence, 313 "B" Street South Bend, WA 98586.

Dear Aunt Kaye's family,
PLEASE contact me at 916-206-2979. I tried to send Aunt Kaye an e-mail and it wouldn't go through and then I tried calling and the number had been disconnected. My heart is broken to find that Aunt Kaye has died. I have no way of contacting any of you. I am certain you will remember me. This is Jana, Aunt Pidgy's youngest daughter. I will be praying for you during this sad and difficult time. My love and most sincere sympathy are with all of you.
Love,
Jana
