Keith Bennett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 23, 2024.
Keith Bennett Jr., aged 70, passed away surrounded by family on February 16, 2024 in the city he called home, Louisville, Kentucky.

He is survived by his children: His oldest son, Tyler, with his wife Karen and their daughter Avery; Keith's daughter, Reagan, along with her husband Mike and their daughter Ivy; and lastly, his youngest son, Colin. Keith is also survived by his sisters, Lisa Hanly and Pam Risher, brother-in-law George Risher, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Keith Bennett Sr. and Barbara Colleen Bennett, and his sister, Michelle Purcell and her husband, Neil Purcell Jr..

Keith was born on December 25, 1953 in Pennsylvania to his parents Barbara Colleen Bennett and USN Cpt. Keith Bennett Sr.. A proud and patriotic son, Keith Jr. (or "Keithie," as his sisters would call him) called many places his home while growing up as a military brat, and continued that trend into adulthood. He had many fond stories of growing up on and around Navy bases, particularly in Hawaii, California, and Memphis. He was an alumnus of The University of Idaho and The University of Memphis, and was a brother of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Keith's career had many chapters including sales, consulting, and entrepreneurship in the automobile sales and rental industry. His career first took him to Jackson, Mississippi where he later married Debbie Dodd and had his first two children, Tyler and Reagan. His youngest, Colin, was born later in Louisville. His career allowed him to live in many cities, including Boise, Tampa, and Baton Rouge.

In his prime, Keith was an avid and talented golfer. A fan of sports and good food, Keith could often be found around St. Matthews cheering on the Louisville Cardinals and enjoying the company of his neighbors. No one was a stranger to him; a life in sales and travel gave him the gift of confidence, conversation, and a great sense of humor. Above all else was his love for his family, and his pride for his children.

May he rest in peace.

After almost getting into a fight on the Budget Car rental lot in Memphis in the late 70´s, we became good friends. Time does solve problems and we became good friends for the last 20+ years. We would talk on the phone 3-4 times a year to catch up on the car industry and what each was doing. I will miss you friend. My best to his family.
