Kenichi Shiozaki Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 11, 2022.
Kenichi Kay Shiozaki Jr

Gone Fishin'. Kenichi K Shiozaki Jr, "Shio", was released from this world to fish forever in paradise on June 8, 2022. He struggled greatly the last 5 years with Pulmonary Fibrosis, but put up a tough fish fight and didn't complain about what life dragged him through. He was a Reel Legend. He tackled it on the fly and never got snagged in the shallow.

He was hatched on May 10, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenichi K Sr. and Mary Akiko Tominaga Shiozaki. He was the youngest of 4 siblings and the only boy. His older sisters schooled him, cut him some slack and spoiled him forever. He Graduated from East High School in 1972, where he played soccer for three years. He loved racing fast cars, especially Porsches and Corvettes and enjoyed downhill skiing in his younger years with all his chums. He worked for Strong Porsche/Audi/Volkswagen/Porsche SLC for 50+ years, a company that called him family. He coached and played on a variety of softball teams for many years, where he lured and reeled in the catch of his life, Lisa Dawn Martinez Shiozaki ?? She took the bait, hook line and sinker on Sept 4, 1987 and it's been his biggest fish story ever since. He had fishingitis Reel bad and you could catch him floating in his bass boat on the lake every weekend. He loved the Jazz, The Utes and 70's rock. He was also known as the Mr Gadget Guy by anyone who spent time with him.. He had every gadget or tool there was to make life (and fishing) a little easier and way more fun. He casted out a lifelong legacy of love, hard work and commitment to his wife and 3 minnows~who were on and off the hook all the time. The minnows got fed for free many times and he was very proud of them.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lisa. His 3 minnows and their spouses, Corey Eugene Layton (Amanda), Kristopher Levi Shiozaki (Stephanie), Stefani Akiko Shiozaki-Wilson (Remington), one granddaughter, Adalyn Layton and a brand new grandson, Koji Kenny Shiozaki. His amazing sisters, Jean Kobayashi, Joanne Nakaya and Marian Shiozaki. Many loved nieces, nephews, Aunties, cousins and special friends.

His family extends a heartfelt gratitude to his team of doctors at the University of Utah and A-Plus Hospice care in making his transition more comfortable.

A celebration of his life, open house style, will be held at Jordanelle State Park Hailstone Event center SR 319 Heber City, Utah on Wednesday June 15, 2022 from 5-9 with short remarks beginning at 6pm

I remember Ken as a kind, gentle, quiet man. I know he loved to go fishing and I remember when he used to play softball which he also loved. He was a great father who loved all 3 of his children very much. I will always keep Len in my heart and his memory too. Ken was my nephew by marriage to my niece Lisa. I deeply cared for him and as everyone who knew him, we all will miss him. He´s with the angels now

I´m very saddened to hear of Kenny´s passing. A group of us met at Alta during the mid `70s. I know we will always have fond memories of those days on the mountain.
In later years, I would often run into him at Marine Products. After reading your wonderful tribute, that all makes sense now!
He was a genuinely kind man, who was always willing to help. He will be missed... My thoughts are with you.
