Kenneth Franks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 26, 2025.
Kenneth John Franks, age 83, of Richmond, Texas, went to our Heavenly Father on August 7, 2025. He was born on November 17, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, to Florence and Alvin Franks.

In his early years, Ken proudly served six years in the United States Navy. He later met the love of his life, Marguerite Veronica Gurunian, and they were married on June 30, 1962. Together, they were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Kimmy, Coleen, and Mary.

In 1977, career and educational opportunities brought the Franks family to Missouri City, Texas. During this time, Ken attended the University of Houston, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering while working for Schlumberger Oilfield Services. In 1985, Ken and Marguerite relocated to Florida's west coast. While living in Madeira Beach, Ken was actively involved with the American Legion and the Sea Towers Yacht Club, dedicating his time to raising funds for various charitable causes.

Ken was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and adoring great-grandfather. He had a deep passion for family, friendships, and travel, and he embraced life with warmth and generosity.

He is survived by his loving daughters: Kimmy Franks (Mark), Coleen Gonzales (Hector), and Mary Rogers (Michael); grandchildren: Blake Franks (Cassi), Clint Franks, Troy Gonzales, Megan Thompson-Eustis (Leeds), Garrett Barnard (Josie), and Lauren Hawkins (Roger); and great-grandchildren: Brooke, Josie, Carter, Colton, Cody, Jackson, Hudson, Miller, Dell, Raelynn, and Brynleigh.

Ken was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marguerite; his parents, Florence and Alvin; and his brothers, Bob and Don.

In May 2025, Ken was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. After a short but courageous battle, he passed away on August 7, 2025. Ken loved life and lived it fully-he will remain forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S 4th Street, Richmond, Texas 77469.

A burial service will follow at 1:15 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center. https://gifts.mdanderson.org

Grandpa "Quack Quack," as the boys lovingly called him, was a kind, gentle, and deeply caring man. He cherished his wife and family, setting a beautiful example of what love and devotion should look like. For my boys, he was a positive male role model to admire and learn from, and for me, I am truly grateful to have had the privilege of knowing him.

Ken was a good neighbor, always ready with good advice. He was careful to make sure his yard and landscaping looked beautiful all the time. He was a good conversationalist, always ready with good natured remarks about whatever the subject might be. He was a determined man, too, always zooming off someplace in his little white car. We will miss him. He was a welcome addition to the neighborhood!

Ken was a good man, wonderful neighbor and a great friend. We will not be able to attend the services on September 5th as we will be out of town. We will however make a donation in Ken´s memory to MD Anderson. We loved Ken very much. Tim and Donna Schwarz
