Kenneth Mendes Obituary
Born in New Bedford, a son of Maria F. (Flaviana) Mendes of New Bedford and the late Antonio S. Mendes.
Kenny served in the United State Army and he was currently serving as a police officer on the New Bedford Police Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed jeeping, hanging with friends, camping, being outdoors, walking his dog and going to the gym.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Mendes, a brother, Derek Mendes of New Bedford; his former wife, Debra (McKiel) Mendes of Taunton, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His funeral will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 9 am from the Rock Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 5-8 pm. For online tribute/directions www.rock-funeralhome.com.

I was Kenny's Army Recruiter, the original one when he first enlisted in 1999. I remember sitting with he and his mother and being fed so as to not ever have to eat again. I am very proud of Kenny, and I have been back in touch with him for quite some time. Rest In Peace, little brother. This is sad news; indeed one of the funniest people I ever knew.
