Kenneth PATRICK

PATRICK, Kenneth Roland O.B.E., C.D., D.Eng. Born June 12, 1915, Saint John, New Brunswick. Died June 1, 2002, Victoria, B.C., after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Survived by his loving wife Margaret; brothers Edmond, Keith and Murray; sons Kenneth, Robert and David; daughters Eleanor, Jeanne, Louise, Barbara and Marion; 10 grandsons, two granddaughters and three-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Robinson, Ronald and Raymond. Commissioned Flying Officer with R.C.A.F. Served in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom 1939-1945. Commanded various squadrons and stations; discharged with rank of Wing Commander; transferred to R.C.A.F. Reserve 1945 and served as Group Captain commanding the 11th Reserve Group until retirement to Supplementary Reserve, 1960. Regular lecturer at the R.C.A.F. Staff College, Toronto; fully-trained R.C.A.F. pilot; honorary Colonel 27th Field Artillery Regiment. Awarded O.B.E. (Officer) for work in connection with radar; Canadian Decoration; Coronation Medal; U.N. and Canadian Korea medals; U.S. Legion of Merit (Officer) by U.S. Government for electronic work. Honorary Doctor of Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Troy, New York. Manager, Acme Sound Systems, Southbridge, Massachussetts. General Manager, RCA Victor, Montreal. Founding member and President, C.A.E. Ltd., Montreal. Chairman of the Board, Canadian Vertol Aircraft Ltd. President, Marigot Investments Ltd., Montreal. President, Patrick Consultants Inc. Director, Boeing of Canada Ltd. Founder and President, Avcorp Industries Inc. Member Board of Governors, Sir George Williams University. Advisory Committee, Defence Research Board, Ottawa, 1946-51, and Ryerson Institute (Advisory Committee), Toronto, 1946-51. Author of several technical publications for the R.C.A.F. between 1939 and 1945. Several scientific papers before the Engineering Institute of Canada and other scientific societies. Past Chairman and Senior Member, Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers. Past President, Montreal United Services Institute. Formed Canada-wide R.C.A.F. Reserve R&C Organization. Past Director, RETMA (Radio-Electronics-Television Manufacturers' Association). Funeral Service for this outstanding Canadian will be held at the First Memorial Chapel, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, at 2:00 o'clock on Thursday, June 6. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Alzheimer Society of B.C. would be much appreciated.
