I was terribly sorry to hear the sad news about Kevin and my thoughts go out to you all. I'm glad to see that there is such a supportive network of family and friends around Davenport to help Kari with the kids.

Whenever I watch a basketball game I think of the greatest shooter ever from
the top of the key and that in my mind has always been Kevin Oliger. I graduated a couple years behind Kevin at CHS and his sportsmanship, kindness, and generosity has been and will continue to be a lifelong inspiration. The key to life is living it like Kevin. God Bless!

Kari and Family
I had the opportunity to know Kevin in both the social setting and the work setting with my positions at Genesis and now here at Mercy in Cedar Rapids. Kevin was great to work with and discussed family and kids constantly. Now is the time to cherish and hold on to all of the good times. May God give you comfort in this time of sorrow. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family

Dear Oliger Family,
I only knew Kevin through a business relationship conducted over the phone. He was always a pleasure to work with - competent, bright, friendly and charming. I always scheduled a little extra time so I could hear the latest accomplishments of the kids and exchange my similar stories. I cannot imagine your sense of loss at this time, but I hope it helps you to know that your dad and husband was special enough to infuse joy into relationships - even from a distance. He always left me with a smile. I'll keep you in my prayers

So very sorry to hear of Kevin's passing. I'd like to extend sincere condolences on behalf of the La Mar family to Kevin's family. I knew Kevin growing up at East Little League, as a baseball and football rival from Assumption. I admired Kevin's talent very much and always paid attention to him when he played. He was the very best athlete I ever knew growing up. Anytime anyone asked who the best was, everone agreed it was Kevin Oliger. Prayers.

Dear Oliger Family,
My Family and I are sorry for your loss. When I read the announcement I remembered a man that I only knew when I was 11 and 12 years old. I never saw him again but remember his coaching from Little League when he helped his brother John coach "runge" a few times. I am sure since I remember him from those few occasions that he went on to touch many lives and make many people happy. The world has lost a great person. I am sorry.

January 25, 2008

Dear Oliger Family,
First of all, let me tell you how truly sorry I was to hear of Kevin's passing!
I was a year behind Kevin at Central. Although Kevin didn't know me, he still made an impact on me. He was one of the rare "jocks" who would acknowledge you and treat you as an equal. I was in the band and had many opportunities to see him in action. His smile and kindness have always been the first thoughts that came to mind when his name was spoken. I thought about all of you on the very cold day of his funeral. I play "Taps" for military funerals and have played in weather such as this. Kevin was, as you know better than any, a very warm person and he will be remembered by all who had any contact with him.
May God bless you all and help you find some comfort at this sad time!

Dear Kari & Family,
It's truly a sad time for all of us that knew Kevin. He was passionate about his family and faith, and was kind, caring and compassionate. He was extremely generous to all who knew him, but he had a special place in his heart for the suffering and less fortunate. There will definitely be a special place in heaven for Kevin. Please know that you are in our prayers, and may you find comfort in knowing how fortunate we all feel to have known such a wonderful man.

The Oliger family,

I knew Kevin well as a very young pony league basebal player having umpired most of his games and he was always a joy as was the entire Oliger family! My brother played at Iowa just ahead of Kevin and I am sad that I did not get to see him much in the last 25 years. My prayers go out to your family at this very difficult time. God Bless all of you.

Kari & Family,
I was deeply saddened with the news of Kevin's passing. I competed against and played on several baseball teams with Kevin growing up, His constant upbeat demeanor and dugout sense of humor was one of a kind. My family owned race horses, and Kevin had a "passion for the ponies" I would run into him in the clubhouse at the Quad City Downs from time to time, he would always brighten up when he saw me and say "what looks good in this race Simps"..Kevin Oliger...was one of the classiest guys I've had the privilege to meet, and I'm better for it.

The Running's will pray that Kari trusts in God and gives him the glory by using that trust.
Kevin will be missed but his memory will stay alive in those he has left here for us to know and love.
Let us trust in God and learn to know and do his will.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Kevin on a personal level, but being a couple years behind him at CHS, his impact should never be discounted. His athletic achievements pale when placed against the way he carried himself, inspried others, treated people with encouragment and kindness and lived his life with extraordinary dignity and class. My humble prayers are with the entire Oliger family in this very difficult time. God bless.

Kari and the entire Oliger Family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. As a kid growing up in DPORT it seemed every team I was ever on always had to play against Kevin, he was an exceptional athlete. Whether it was at Holy Family or Assumption he was always the opponent. It wasn't until after high schoool that I really had chance to meeet him via mutual friends. He was simply a great guy and tremendously respected and liked by every who once competed against him them became his friend. May God Blees you all in your time of greatest need and may he shine his everlasting love on you. He will be missed.

January 23, 2008

I competed against Kevin both in grade school (Holy Family) and in High School at Assumption. Kevin was always gracious in whatever sport he participated in. I enjoyed both my time on the field and off with Kevin.

Dear Kari and Kevin's family,
I attended CHS with Keven and worked with him through athletic training and also attended classes with him such as Mr. Sweedy's infamous Phyics class.
Kevin was an inspiration and role model for many. His faithfulness, persistence, and courage helped him achieve greatness on the athletic field as both athlete and coach, but more importantly as a husband father, son, and brother. As you well know, Kevin was able to use his talents and great energy to create and sucessfully build the Docuform business. Whatever Keven put his mind to, whether it was for his family, Athletics, or business Kevin suceeded. I enjoyed his contagious smile and not only remember him from the classroom, but on the sports field making the jumper, completing the pass, sliding into base, and holding the runner-up basketball trophy at State. Kevin will be sorely missed by many; but most of all by you. Please know that your family remains in my prayers as you grieve and rebuild. May God comfort you and Bless you today and always. I am deeply saddened to learn of Kevin's passing. My prayers go out to the Oliger family. While I was one grade behind Kevin, I've known him since we competed against each other during our SE Little League baseball days. We later became highschool teammates and I had the privilege of playing two years with him in the Blue Devil backfield.(He did some unbelieveable things that I have yet to forget). I will always remember Kevin as a fierce hard-working competitor, a winner, and a positive decent human being. God Bless the Kevin Oliger family.

Susan Arzberger-Eicken

January 23, 2008

To the Oliger Family,
I am still in shock hearing the news from my father, Robert Arzberger. My thoughts immediately flashed back to our youth and the many games we played between our yards, football, baseball, basketball, tag, kick the can, and monopoly. Oh, I can't forget to mention the bowling league! Even though Kevin was a few years younger, he competed with gusto! During this extremely difficult time, your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. The Oliger Family is the definition of love, not only for one another, but demonstarting your deep faith and love for our Lord, our God. May the Lord hold you tight and comfort you during the months to come.

January 23, 2008

My condolences go out to the Oliger family. I played baseball at Iowa with Kevin & had not seen him for quite a few years. He was a great athlete, but an even better teammate. He was a leader on & off the field.

If we had a little bit of Kevin in all of us, man...what a better world this would be! Kevin and I were classmates at CHS and graduated together in 1980. I knew he was going places from day one!

Kev, swing your Golden Slugger and send your blessings down upon your loved ones, so they may one day spread the joy, generosity and charm as you did on God's field of love and hope. You played a great game! Fear no valley...and remember to always charge the ball!

Prayers to your children.

I was blessed to have Kevin in my life. Even though we met a short time a go we had alot in common. His work here on earth is done--but I know in my heart that God is not done with Kevin. He helped me to believe that God could do for me what no human power could! I will always remember the moments we shared, talking about our wifes and that we both have 6 kids.No bond is as great as that between a parent and their children. Please let me know if you need to talk, I'll always be hear to listen and share.
