Kevin Stafford Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 6 to Feb. 7, 2023.
Roddy (Kevin) Stafford, 68, passed away on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at Boston Medical Center due to complications from Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. He is survived by his son, Aaron Stafford, and daughter-in-law, Keely Stafford, of Bonita Springs, Florida; his long-time partner, Barbara Parece, of Worcester, MA; and three siblings: Richard Stafford of Linden, VA; Phillip Stafford of Phoenix, AZ; and Gina Stafford of Winchester, VA. Kevin was also predeceased by his brother Romney of Fairfax Station, VA and parents Randy and Lorraine of Garfield, AR.

Kevin was born on March 18, 1954 in Champaign, IL. As a child, he enjoyed sports and the outdoors, often hiking the Appalachian Trail through the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. He was a wrestler and football player in high school and went on to earn a degree in chemistry from James Madison University. Throughout his career in the biotechnology industry, he focused on developing treatments for sepsis and the rare disease, hemophilia. He worked for major drug companies, including Genentech and Eli Lilly, and held several patents, including his most recent, "Archimedes," which he completed while confined to a wheelchair in the last years of his life.

Kevin's favorite thing to do was to create adventures. One of his most memorable adventures came at the time of retirement when he started a bed and breakfast in Hawaii, The Villa at Kehena Beach, which he owned and operated for several years. In his free time, Kevin enjoyed riding his road bike, cruising on his motorcycles, taking pilot lessons, and playing his guitars and synthesizers. He was imaginative, artistic and would many times express his emotions through music and poetry. Kevin was a true renaissance man, and his legacy will live on through those he inspired.

May Kevin's legacy live on in us all, by finding adventures; none of which are too tall.

You would have been so intrigued by how much the world has changed since you passed in just under a year! We're actually nearing the 1 year anniversary of the release of ChatGPT-and boy would you have gotten a kick out of that. Missing you so much, Dad!
