Funeral services for Lane Strahan, 66, of Marshall, will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Colonial Chapel of Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Elliott and the Rev. Brenda Lucas officiating. Interment will be in Greer Cemetery, Rayville, La., at 4 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Sullivan-Heaster Funeral Home. Mr. Strahan died Monday, March 26, 2007, in Houston. He was born April 11, 1940, in Rayville, La., to Bowen H. and Etta Mae Roberts Strahan. He married Sadie on Aug. 12, 1961. They were married for 45 years. Mr. Strahan was a City Commissioner in Marshall for eight years and Mayor for three years. He owned a feed store in Jefferson for six years. He loved his grandchildren, working in the yard, drinking coffee with friends, and he loved Marshall. Mr. Strahan was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church of Marshall and had a tremendous faith in God. He was a Sunday School teacher and a lay speaker. He was a member and past president of the Marshall Noon Lions Club. He was also a member of the board for Sabine Valley MHMR. Surviving relatives are his wife of 45 years, Sadie Strahan; daughter, Karen Strahan-Haase and husband Lance of Longview; son, Dr. Arthur Lane Strahan Jr. and wife Natalie of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jason Louis Stevenson and wife Wendy, and the "Killer B's" Brittany, Bailey and Brooke Strahan, Brandon Stevenson and his wife Amy; and one great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Robert Strahan of Baskin, La., Carl Strahan of Rayville, La.; sister, Joyce Brown of Farmerville, La.; and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1101 Jasper Drive, Marshall, Tx. 75672. Pallbearers will be Bowen Strahan, Dr. Ronald Strahan, Carl Barron, John Pate, Jeromy Calhoun, Dusty Dison, Mike Mitchell and John Wix. Sadie, I just looked online and saw the article in the paper. I'm so saddened by your terrible loss. There's just nothing I can say that could bring you comfort in this time of intense grief. Lane will be truly missed. May God provide you with His marvelous peace, comfort and continued love. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
