May 5, 1955 - October 16, 2023

Larry Dean Hoback Sr., 68, of Myrtle Beach, SC., passed away at Duke University Hospital on the morning of October 16, 2023. He was a hardworking and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Larry developed many friendships that would last his entire life. He was the father and friend that could be called on to help with anything.

Larry is survived by his children: Dean, Neal (Jennifer), Jamie (Crystal), Kayla (Jason), and Leah. He was also a cherished grandfather to De, Deanna, Brandon, Dillon, Nikki, Dylan L., Karleigh, Kingston, Christian, Fredrick, Cohen, and Blakely. Larry was a proud great-grandfather to Cabella, Nate, and Brigston. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Scott Hoback, and grandson Neal Hoback Jr.

Born on May 5, 1955, in Wytheville, VA., Larry attended George Wythe High School. He loved being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and especially enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance.

Services for Larry Dean Hoback Sr. will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

I have taken care of Mr. Hoback for many years. He has been one of my most cherished patients. He was always kind and caring. I will truly miss him.

Dean and I met 30+ years ago. He and my husband Red were good friends. He is also the father of my nieces and nephews. I always enjoyed being around Dean. Fly high brother. Enjoy your time with Scott and Red.
