SIMMONS, LaVerne, 83 of Clearwater, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007. He was born December 18, 1923 in Tampa, FL. His parents are the late Rev. Edward A. Simmons and Carrie B. McIver Simmons. He went to Porter Street Elementary, TN; Benjamin Banneker High School, TN (1940) Edward Waters College, FL (1940), Alabama A&M University, Alabama (1940-1941), and Delaware State University, Delaware (1941-1942). He was a Charter Member at the Church of the Reconciler, Army veteran of WWII. he was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and a long time affliate of Tampa Bay Downs. He was a retired owner/operator at Allied Van Lines. Survivors include his loving & devoted spouse, Elizabeth Q. Simmons, 8 Children, Janice (Richard) Tampa; Edward, Ohio; Michael, Flemington; Ariminta, Ohio; Keith (Andrea), South Carolina; Veronica, Clearwater; Lavonice (Tony) Memphis; and Stacey (Hortensia), Clearwater. 14 Grandchildren, Ericka, Tallahassee; Teffany, Lake Mary; Justin, Orlando; Bryce, Orlando; Jasmine, Clermont; Shantell, Ohio; & Dionne, Marissa, Shantae, Trumaine, Shira, Tyneshia, Destinee & Tatiana all of Clearwater. 11 Great-Grandchildren, Terrence Jr. Tayveon, Keyshod,Kevon, De'Shone, Teshira, Te'Onshai, Eryn, Zachery, Aaliyah & Jesiah. 3 Sister-in-laws, Martha L. Price, Washington, DC; Ruth C. Ruth (Henry), Gainesville & Rachel Dexter, Gainesville. 1 Brother-in-law, Rev. Adam Cromwell (Norma Jean) Alachua; a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
