Lee Alexander Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.
Lee "Heavy" Alexander, 62, passed away on March 9, 2025, in New Bern, North Carolina.

Born on August 25, 1962, in Columbia, North Carolina, Heavy Lee lived a life full of passion, adventure, and dedication to his family and community. He was well known for his career as a DJ and bartender at multiple establishments across Carteret County. Alongside his wife, he owned and operated the Creswell Cafe in Creswell, North Carolina, as well as the Oyster Bar in Columbia, North Carolina. His presence in these businesses made them not just places to eat and gather but true community hubs where friends and neighbors could always count on good food and even better company.

Heavy Lee proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years. His time as a Guardsman was one of the greatest honors of his life, and he carried that pride with him always.

Beyond his work and service, Heavy Lee had a deep love for cooking-he was always experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes. He also enjoyed fishing and swimming whenever he had the chance. An avid golfer and an enthusiastic Duke fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. His adventurous spirit led him to sail and travel extensively across the United States, creating memories that will be cherished by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Robin Muse Alexander of Havelock, North Carolina; his stepdaughter Krysta Muse Voliva and her husband Casey Voliva of Wasilla, Alaska; his granddaughter Amelia Voliva of Wasilla, Alaska; his brother Edwin Smith of Creswell, North Carolina; his nephew Chuck and family; and his uncle Larry Woodley of Creswell, North Carolina. He also leaves behind many cousins who will miss him dearly.

Heavy Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Louise Woodley Alexander and Franklin Lee Alexander of Creswell, North Carolina. He also mourned the loss of two of his closest friends, Charlie Boucher of Morehead City, North Carolina, and Christian Ramos of Newport, North Carolina.

Known for his fun-loving nature and kind heart, Heavy Lee brought joy to those around him. His laughter filled every room he entered, and his generosity touched many lives. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the community and friends for their love and support during this time.
