Leland Burnette Obituary
He enjoyed boating. When Leslie retired, he was jokingly called the Dock Mayor at Ft. Loudoun Marina because it was his second home. He earned his private pilot's license in the late 1980's and was a longtime member of East Tennessee Pilot's Club and flew out of the Sky Ranch. After selling his boat, he fell in love with camping. His favorite campground was Caney Creek where he spent lots of time. Although he had numerous accomplishments in his lifetime, he was most proud to have his name on a project in space.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Lucy Cagley Burnette; siblings: Earl, G. W., Tommy, Roy, Ernie, I. J., Marvin, W. D. , Paul Burnette, Mary Elizabeth Frasier, Gloria Ogle, and Alice Hart. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Phylis Burnette; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Tyra Burnette; daughter, Brenda "Punkin" Burnette; grandchildren: Braden O'Domirok, Sidney Burnette, Emily Flachbart (Cody), Alexis Hoover (Jeb); great-grandchildren: Remington and Navy Flachbart, Leland and Stella Hoover; sisters, Edna Burnette and Wanda Plemons along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Caris Hospice and Quality Private Care for their compassionate care during this past year.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 23rd at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m with Rev. Tommy Patterson officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home 10:30 Saturday morning and proceed to Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services at 11 a.m. Military honors will be conducted by the Loudon Co. Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Leslie's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation. More information at T2T.org Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements. www.clickfuneralhome.com
