It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Leon Malhiot on Friday, June 21, 2013. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife of 48 years, Darlene, his sons Cal (Leanne) and Kevin, and his much loved grandchildren, Jacob and Claire. Leon was a proud Saskatchewan grain farmer, with farming being both his vocation and his hobby. He worked hard his entire life and he worked equally hard over the last year to recover from a stroke, a task which ultimately proved to be too significant a challenge. While Leon loved the farm, he also loved to escape for a few days. Vacations in Hawaii will always hold special memories for his family. He loved nothing more than to hop in the car and head West to visit his family in Calgary and drive in the mountains. Leon was a warm, yet private person and appreciated the respect of this privacy from friends over the course of his illness. A sincere thank you to family, friends and neighbours for their support and assistance. Special thanks to caregivers at the Regina General Hospital, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, William Albert House, paramedic providers and in particular, Cal and Kevin wish to thank their mother for her unwavering dedication to Leon's care. At Leon's request, a private service was held. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute to the Heart and Stroke Fund in Leon's memory.
