Leonard Rocha Obituary

NEW BEDFORD - Leonard Rocha, 67, of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Carol E. (Bastarache) Rocha, married 46 years; and son of the late Joseph and Evangeline (Martin) Rocha.

He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Mr. Rocha was a member of the Army National Guard and was activated to serve in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis. He was formerly employed as a Master Machinist for Revere Copper and Brass.

He was a member of the 6th Bristol Social Club. In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking and was proud of the fact that he built his own home and built the bar at the 6th Bristol Social Club.

Survivors include his wife; his two sons, Gary J. and Christopher E. Rocha, both of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob and Benjamin Rocha; two brothers, Paul Rocha of Framingham and Gregory Rocha of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Joseph, Daniel and Edmund Rocha, and Pauline Gaj and Lillian Tremblay.

In accordance with his wishes, his funeral was private and he was cremated. The family will be receiving relatives and friends to celebrate his life at the New Bedford Country Club on Monday at 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to I.H. Schwartz Children's Rehab Center, 1 Posa Place, Dartmouth, MA 02747.
