Lewis HEIBEIN Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Apr. 24 to Apr. 29, 2017.
HEIBEIN, LEWIS EDWARD
August 16, 1929 – April 19, 2017
It is with deep sadness that Lew's family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, Lewis Edward at the age of 87. Lew was born in Simmie and later moved to Lajord where he met Lil; they married in 1947 and had 70 wonderful years together. Lew and Lil successfully ran three businesses in Wilcox, Avonlea, and later, Melfort. They retired in beautiful Candle Lake. They made numerous warm and lasting friendships wherever they were located. Lew was known as a gentleman, a hard worker, sincerely interested in others, a principled man and someone who always looked out for the little guy. Lew leaves behind a loving legacy of family: Stuart (Lynn), Janice (Dwayne), Patricia (Doug), Greg (Kathy) and Dale. Grandchildren: Allan (Cathy), Erin (Matt), Juline (James), Jeremy (Janice), Wade (Karen), Lane (Krista), David (Sophie), Heather (Mark). Great-Grandchildren: Tessa, Braedon, Georgia, Jameson, Adam, Kaydence, Addison, Haden, Ewan, Kate, Everett, Charlotte, Benjamin and Lilian. There will be no service at this time, respecting Lew's wish. Condolences for the family may be left at www.westwoodfuneralchapel.com Arrangements have been entrusted to WESTWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL (306) 653-3434

Our deepest sympathies to Lil and families.
We will always remember Lew as a sincere person, a successful businessman, a community leader and a friend. Lew had a great sense of humour, always wore a smile, and yes, there was a twinkle in his eye. Always enjoyed our conversations when he was at the post office, when we were purchasing groceries in his M & M store in Wilcox, or meeting at social gatherings such as the New Year's Eve caberets, Hallowe'en Howl, curling spiels, Christmas concerts, hockey/ringette games, and the annual rink kitchen duties. Lew's widest smile always came when he picked up his Christmas parcel from Stuart...just one of many memoies we have of Lew.
Sincerely Norman and June O'Byrne

We send our deepest sympathies to Lil and family. I will always remember Lew as a fine gentleman with a tremendous work ethic. His common sense and practical approach to life were both refreshing and inspiring. Through my involvement with Village Council, Lew taught many of the virtues of being a good person - not necessarily because of what he said but often because of what he did.
