Lillian Firestone

The family of Lillian Firestone announces with great sorrow the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at the age of 91. Born on 8/18/32 in Harbin, China, Lillian emigrated to the US with her parents Michael and Celia Firestone and sister Simone, at age 8, to Rego Park, Queens. She attended Music and Art High School, graduated from Barnard College in 1954, and married Lawrence Levenson, a lawyer, the same year, and was later divorced. Lillian remarried Robert Greco, an artist, who died after a brief marriage. Her third marriage, to William Boal, a writer and filmmaker, ended in divorce. Lillian founded Firestone Associates, a Public Relations Firm, started Indications Press, worked as an Editor at Parabola magazine, and was a lifelong member of the Gurdjieff Foundation. She is survived by her sister, Simone Dubow, her daughter, Risa Levenson Gold and Kenneth Gold, her son, Mark Boal, and Jessica Collins, stepson, Christopher Boal and Nancy Georgini, stepdaughter Stacey Evans and Peter Byrne, grandchildren Ben Gold and Shira Sachs, Raphaela Gold, Theodore Gold, and Allegra Gold, Stetson Boal and Solomon Boal, Gianna Boal, and Miles Byrne, great-grandchildren Lilah and Caleb Gold. The funeral service was 5/1/24 at Riverside Memorial Chapel and Lillian is buried at Baron Hirsch Cemetery on Staten Island. Lillian was an extraordinary person who influenced many with her kindness, compassion, wit, and spiritual teachings, and will be deeply and terribly missed.
