Linda Evans Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 7, 2024.
Sandwich - Linda Mae Evans, 80, of Cape Cod, Hyannis, MA, passed into eternal rest on August 3, 2024. Born on May 2, 1944, in Wareham, MA, she was the daughter of the late Chester Clark Evans and Hazel Mae Evans. Linda graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School and went on to serve her community through her diligent work in bookkeeping and as a home health aid. Her unwavering commitment to those in need was further demonstrated through her volunteer work, where she compassionately transported cancer patients to their treatments.

A lifelong parishioner of Saint Pius X, Linda was a woman of deep faith and conviction. Her life was rich with simple pleasures; she found joy in the camaraderie of her Rummikub games with friends at Shawmee Heights, particularly with her cherished friend Phil. Linda also delighted in driving, music, and the challenge of puzzles and crossword puzzles. Her two parakeets, lovingly named after her granddaughters, Cassie and Alisha, were a source of constant happiness.

Linda was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by those she leaves behind, including her sister Myrna Evans; son Patrick Cornwell and daughter-in-law Jennifer Bourne-Cornwell; granddaughters Alisha Cornwell and Cassandra Wertz; grandson-in-law Matthew Wertz; and her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and the next generations of great nieces and nephews, as well as a great-great-niece. In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her beloved son Chester Cornwell and brothers Chet and Jerry Evans.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held at the Sandwich Senior Center on September 21, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This gathering will be a time for family and friends to share memories and honor a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to The American Diabetes Association, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or St. Jude’s Shriners Children's Hospital, in honor of Linda's generous spirit and her dedication to the well-being of others.

Sad to learn about Linda's passing. I was very close to her at one point when she worked in our family real estate office. She was an amazing Christian woman with a big heart and infectious laugh. Linda was a conscientious worker. She always found the positive. She had an unassuming reverence and she loved the Lord and openly shared her faith. I remember how conscious she was to not be gossipy which is a challenge in office settings. RIP Linda. ~ Kenny Olson

I knew Linda through the Mucciaccio´s, my late Aunt Mary, Uncle Jack, Kevin, Johnny and Gerry. Her late son Chester was a caretaker for Johnny I believe; and the families were very close; and that´s how I got to know Linda. What I most remember about Linda was her kind and sweet spirit...she was always so great to me; and that left an impact even though it´s been many years since I´ve seen her. I guess it can be said that even though you lose touch with some people; they still hold a place in your heart. Linda, we love you and may you rest in peace with your predeceased family, friends, and your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Love,
Mike Olson
