Barling - Linda Gilbert, age 80, of Barling, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Methodist Nursing Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Linda was born January 23, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, daughter of Kermit and Mildred (Prescott) Lyons.



Linda married Reverend Larry Hay. Together, they had three children, Marty, Barry and Martina. After the loss of her husband Larry, she found love again and married Harold Gilbert. Together they raised Marty and Harold's daughter Renae, and celebrated living life together for fifty years. Linda was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family, her art, square dancing, and her time at Beckman Center, where she served as the Activities Director. Linda was a lifelong resident of Fort Smith and graduated from Northside High School. She was a devoted member of the Massard Missionary Church.

Linda leaves behind her beloved son, Marty Hay and wife Cynthia; and their children, Lyla Hay, Lori Cagle, Amy Goff, Stephanie Goff, Jessica Sayongsa, and Chelsi Weir; her daughter, Renae Teague and husband David; and their children, Brittany Weber and Dustin Teague; eleven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Janet Ellis, Sherrill Heathcock, Ginger Heston, and Mark Schoen. Preceding Linda in death, husband, Larry Hay; husband, Harold Gilbert; son, Barry Hay; daughter, Martina Hay; parents, Kermit and Mildred Lyons; sister, Lou Anna Schoen; grandparents, Tom and Josie Prescott, Harden and Gladys Lyons; and niece, Joanna Schoen. As well as her precious dog and companion, SilverLee. Linda will be greatly missed by a host of family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 13th, 2024, at the Barling City Cemetery, 1015 Frank Street, Barling, Arkansas 72923.

I remember meeting Linda a few times years ago when her son Marty and I were friends back in high school and college. She was nice and worried so about Marty. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time of lose.
