TAYLOR, Linda V. "Tamsy"
Linda V. "Tamsy" Taylor, 79, of Hartford, beloved wife of Norris A. Taylor, Sr., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in prayer, on Wednesday, (January 9, 2013) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Charles Hale and Beatrice "Bea" Stewart, both of Westmoreland; she migrated to Hartford in 1967 and has been a longstanding member of St. Justin Church and a founding member of the Martha and Mary Guild of St. Justin. Known affectionately as "Aunt Tamsy", she attended St. George Girls School and Kingston Technical School in Jamaica and was a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from nursing at Hartford Hospital after 27 years, working on South 3. Aunt Tamsy was the matriarch of the family, a counselor to many, and a genuine LADY of grace and class. She had an unshakeable faith and a deep devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Rosary. She left a legacy of unconditional love and spiritual wisdom that she shared with her family, friends, and all who came in contact with her. Her gentle, inner strength and true humility is a shining example for all to emulate. Besides her husband Norris, Sr., of Hartford; she is survived by her sons Norris "Tony" Taylor, Jr. and his wife Veronica of Windsor, and Robert Taylor and his wife Sheri of New London; her daughters, Verona "Pixie" Brown of Hartford, Kathleen "Kay" Taylor-Brooks and her husband Rudolph "Rudy" of Bloomfield, Joan Tulloch of FL, and Dawn Taylor-Swain and her husband Richard "Ricky" of Windsor; her brothers Raymond "Keith" Forbes and his wife Monica, and Bertram "Berty" Hale, all of FL; her sisters Pauline Costley of FL, Evadne "Gem" Morrison-Taylor and her husband Ransford "Ranny" of NY, Barbara Hutchinson and her husband Tyrone of FL, and June Cook of TX; 14 loving grandchildren; three loving great-grandchildren; cousin George Barnett of Canada; special brother and sister-in-law, Charles "Jinko" and Fay Taylor of Windsor; her "adopted" daughter Patricia Whitworth and her children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving uncle Sydney Barnett; her brothers Clinton Pennicook and Noel Hale. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and administrators at Ellis Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Linda where she affectionately called her "home away from home." Also, thank you to the staff of Hartford Hospital for their compassionate care, especially in her last hours.
A Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at St. Justin Church, 230 Blue Hills Avenue, Hartford followed by entombment in Mount St. Benedict Mausoleum, Bloomfield. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in Linda's name to St. Justin Church, Handicap Ramp Fund, 230 Blue Hills Avenue, Hartford, CT 06112. To Mr. Taylor and family:
Memories are to be cherished, when a life was well lived.
Tears of sorrow are but for a moment.
The joy, laughter and special moments you shared will brighten your spirits forever.
The love of a mother, sister, aunt, wife and friend will be missed but not forgotten.
She's not gone, just out of reach.
Remember her touch, her smile, her kiss, as she will forever live in your hearts.
Farewell God's angel, sleep on and take your rest, and may your sole forever rest in peace.

I met Linda when I was a patient at Ellis Manor. She always had a smile and a kind word for anyone she encountered. She had a positve outlook no matter what her circumstances were.
I often saw her in the pt room. Her husband and other family members visited often. You could see the love they shared.
May Linda rest in peace.

Your mom was a special person to all who knew her. She was like a mom to all of us. Everytime she greeted us, she made us feel like family. Not everyone can do that. We will miss her at the family gatherings. She remains in our hearts forever.
