LORNA VAN HOOSE Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 11 to Aug. 12, 2016.
VAN HOOSE, LORNA A.
Ocala - Lorna A. Van Hoose, a long-time resident of Ocala, Florida, was welcomed into her heavenly home August 8, 2016. Lorna was born January 1, 1932, in Milwaukee, WI. She was the daughter of William and Gertrude Osius of Plymouth, WI. In 1952, she married Robert W. Van Hoose and lived in Washington, D.C. and Ashland, KY, before moving to Ocala in 1976. Lorna lived her final 16 months in Oviedo, FL, being lovingly cared for by her daughter, Rebecca and family.
Lorna is survived by six children, Amy Smith (Dan) of Middleburg, VA; Robert W. Van Hoose, Jr. (Sandy) of Ashland, KY; William Van Hoose of Oldsmar, FL; Ruth Hudson (David) of Bloomington, IN; Allison Braun of Lakeland, FL; and Rebecca Puig (Rafael) of Oviedo, Florida. She is survived by 11 grandchildren; Irene Butler, Trey Van Hoose, Stephen Van Hoose, Jonathan Van Hoose, Joe Van Hoose, Kirby Van Hoose, Stephanie Akerman, Stacey Morris, Kelly Hudson, Lauren Puig, and James Puig. She is survived by five great-grandchildren. Lorna is also survived by brother, Fred Osius of Plymouth, WI, Dorothy Beringer of Elkhart Lake, WI; and Marjorie Vandersteeg of Green Bay, WI.
In addition to making a happy, Christ-centered home for her family, Lorna used her talents to serve the Lord with gladness. She was a choir director and organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ashland, KY, for 20 years and served as organist at St. John Lutheran Church in Ocala, FL for over 30 years. She served as a chaplaincy volunteer at Munroe Regional Hospital in Ocala for 25 years. Lorna also served faithfully in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Bible Study Fellowship. Lorna's legacy of a deep and abiding faith in Christ, a love for her family, and a heart to serve others lives on through her family and friends. She will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and all who knew her and loved her.
The family will be accepting visitors Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 4:30 - 6:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 5740 South Pine Avenue, Ocala. A celebration of Lorna's life will be held Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 1:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, 1915 SE Lake Weir Avenue, Ocala. The family requests that no flowers be sent, but would welcome memorial contributions to the St. John Scholarship fund.

I am so sad to hear of Lorna's passing. My sincere condolences to her children and grandchildren. I had the pleasure of meeting Lorna and Bob when my then-husband and I moved to Ocala in 1979. The VanHoose's graciously allowed us to stay in one of their barn apartments until we were able to find/build a home, and, a year later, they gave me a tremendous gift - a yearling colt named Cygnificance, whom I treasured for the next 30 years until his passing in 2013. Every day, I had a reminder of what generous and Godly people the VanHoose's were, and Lorna especially seemed to love everyone - children, horses and dogs - unconditionally and with exceptional kindness. God truly has a new wonderful angel by his side, along with her husband, Bob! The world is a better place for Lorna having been in it. God Bless.

I knew Mrs. Van Hoose through her daughter Allison, who is a dear friend of mine. She was always "Mom, Mama, or Nana" since the grandkids came along. Allison adored her mom--all the kids and grandkids did.
She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. Her faith ran deep and I loved the comment about her "deep and abiding faith"--such a good description of her.
Her family is so blessed to have had Mrs. Van Hoose love them and guide them in her no-nonsense way. She will be missed.

Aunt Lorna was truly a great angel on loan from God. We were so fortunate to have had her among us.

To the Robert Van Hoose Family, I send you my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Lorna. Though I never had the opportunity to meet her personally, her faith and beauty resonated in the children and grandchildren I know, and adore. Lorna is in a better place, smiling down at all of you. Robbie and Stephen, I'm giving you, and your family a two arm hug, praying the hearts of all who loved her are comforted knowing she is with our Heavenly Father.

With love,
Cynthia

Lorna was a gentle, sweet, and loving lady whom I had the pleasure to know. I know the family will greatly miss her and the sunshine she was in their lives. She now rests and rejoices in the arms of her dear Lord and has been reunited with her precious husband, Bob. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. When my Dad (Hobart Van Hoose) and I came to the farm and looked at or purchased horses, Lorna was the most amazing hostess. She and Bob were so welcoming and shared their home, farm, and horses with me. I was in heaven getting to spend a few days there during the Ocala show every year. I have great memories and lots of pictures of those trips.

Dear Allison and family,
I pray that each of you feels God's nearness, comfort and peace. That you know how dearly your mother loved you, just as you adored her. God bless each precious memory, that they would last a lifetime and be a constant comfort. I regret that I will be unable to be with you, as I will be caring for my own mother. Sending hugs and prayers.
