Lou should have worn a super hero cape, since he was always supportive and tried to help with whatever came up. He liked jazz music, the Des Moines Art Center and spoke wistfully of his comic book collection that went missing after he returned home from the Army especially the Spiderman's. One day he offered to make a delicious "basta" meal at my house if I would get the ingredients. I forgot an item at the store and he sweetly complained how important that one was while wearing my "cat eyes" reading glasses that he mistakenly picked up off the counter instead of his own. When I told him he was wearing my glasses he insisted I was wrong, which only made him look funnier to me while he knit his brows. I moved away and we lost touch after a while, but two decades later I remember him as a good friend and special person.

Lou was a good friend, we worked together for years at the Bulk Mail Center, lots of laughs and good times. I’m sorry to hear this sad news. RIP Louie, you are in my prayers. Don Bailey

I'm so sorry!! Louie was a classmate of mine at St. Anthony School. Our Class of 1962 has continued to have annual reunions to which Louie had attended a few. We will miss him. Always such a nice person. May he rest in peace. Heartfelt Sympathy, Mike & Maxine (Palmer) Flaherty
