Loyd Lee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 22, 2025.
Loyd Jesse Lee, 83, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on August 14, 2025.

He was born on November 11, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jesse Beryel Lee and Florence (Lunsford) Lee. He is survived by his wife, Val; daughter, Leslie; son-in-law, Steve; sisters Linda, Judy, Joy, Carol (Dave), and Jackie; and brothers Jerry, Tom (Sharon), and Beryel (Penney). He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Gwen, Beverly, and Donna; brothers Greg, Lowell, and Michael; and his son, Steven.

He served in the Navy in Hawaii and Long Beach, California, and settled in Southern California after discharge, relocating with his family to the Kansas City area in 1970. He retired from Kansas City Power and Light in 1995.

He loved old country and western music, learned to play the guitar, and in his 50s began singing and playing, joining other country and western fans who performed in a friend's barn every Tuesday night for many years. Recently, he had "caught the bug" again and was practicing with his nephew, Tom.

A born tinkerer, he repaired, remodeled, and built all kinds of projects, including his latest home in Oak Grove.

The family extends many thanks to the first responders and to neighbors, family, and friends who have been so kind and helpful.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
