Lydia Debb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2025.
Lydia Debb, of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on October 22, 1928, in Blue Island, IL, Lydia was the beloved wife of Arthur Debb for nearly 78 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and adventure.

Lydia was the devoted mother of son, Larry Debb and his wife Michele, parents of Bill Debb, Jaclyn Debb, and Brandon Steele; and daughter, Marsha Werner and her husband Gregg, parents of Lee Werner (spouse: Kellie Werner,) and Trent Werner. Great Grandmother of Wade Werner (son of Lee & Kellie Werner)

In her early career, Lydia worked as a stenographer for the Cancer Society of Chicago before earning a degree in Library Science. She found her calling as a librarian at Congress Park School in La Grange, where she touched the lives of countless students and formed lifelong friendships with teachers and staff.

Lydia had a deep love for travel, especially with her husband Arthur. One of their most memorable journeys was a month-long trip to Europe in October 1965. Her travels often took her to California to visit her brother Bob, his wife Ruth and their 3 children, David, Michael and Jessica. Lydia remained deeply connected to loved ones near and far.

She was also an exceptional cook. Every Christmas Eve, Lydia and Arthur prepared stuffed squid and homemade pasta-a tradition that brought joy to family and friends alike. Her table was always open, and her hospitality extended to anyone who needed a warm meal or a kind word. Her favorite phrase was "you don't have to be hungry to eat good food"

After leaving her beloved Blue Island, Lydia raised her family in Clarendon Hills, later moving to Lombard, and eventually settling at The Moorings of Arlington Heights. She will be remembered for her loving nature, intuitive spirit, and unwavering care for others. Lydia had a remarkable ability to sense when someone needed support, often reaching out even before being asked.

The world has lost a truly wonderful human being, but Lydia's warmth, kindness, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
