M Alexandra Stowe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 31, 2024.
M. Alexandra "Sandy" Stowe passed away on May 7, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 68. Born on March 11, 1956, in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was known to her loved ones as "Sandy." Sandy was a beloved spouse, mother, and cherished family member. She is survived by her spouse, John R Stowe, her sons John A Stowe and Thomas Stowe with his wife Mollie, and her daughter Elizabeth (Scout) Stowe. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Joyce Sumerlin.

Sandy had an rewarding career as the Co-Owner and Chief of Staff of The Cat Hospital of Orlando from 1992 to 2018. She dedicated herself to the well-being of animals and their owners, leaving a lasting impact on the community she served. Sandy's passion for animals extended beyond her profession into her personal life.

In her free time, Sandy enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She found peace underwater while SCUBA diving, appreciated the grace of Arabian horses, and found solace in the pages of a good book. Sandy's green thumb was evident in her love for gardening, and she found happiness in exploring new places through travel and camping adventures.

Sandy's educational journey included attending Hazelwood High School in St. Louis, MO, and furthering her studies at the University of Missouri, where she earned a Bachelor of Science before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

Sandy Stowe's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for animals will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.

A very young Sandy in this photo. I knew her in 1967-1971 and she was very dear to me. My mother had died in 1967 and Sandy seemed to know how to keep me sane. I have been looking for her for years and now to find out she has passed has left me devestated. Her sisters aren't mentioned and I wonder how they are? Sandy and I ended up with so much in common even though I never saw her after she left Bethany School and the Convent of the Transfiguration (Glendale, Ohio) - we both loved horses, SCUBA and Veterinary work. I live in Australia now but would love to hear from anyone from Bethany or with more information about dear Sandy. Love you to bits - you were never forgotten.

I first met Dr Summerlin at howellbranch animal hospital 1985. I worked at Rollins college at the time. she was a wonderful vet and she cared deeply about the animals she treated .In 1993 I went to work at the cat hospital for three years. I enjoyed it very much. I love Dr. Summerlin very much. May she rest in peace.

Sandy bought two of my beautiful oriental shorthairs, she loved them so much and I am sure John will continue to love on them. I could call her or email her and she would help me with my cats even thought I am in Utah. She will be terribly missed.
