Margaret "Peggy" O'Rourke Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2025.
Margaret Ann "Peggy" O'Rourke (née Krieger), age 83, passed away on June 1, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, the city where she was born on March 21, 1942. Her vibrant spirit and boundless energy left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Peggy led a dynamic and multifaceted life. Over the years, she embraced several careers with passion and purpose-working as a real estate agent, an antique dealer, and a church secretary. Each role reflected different facets of her personality: her business acumen, her love for history and beauty, and her deep spiritual grounding. A proud and practicing Catholic, Peggy's faith in Jesus Christ was a cornerstone of her life. Her spirituality guided her through life's challenges and triumphs alike.

She was deeply committed to the fellowship of addiction recovery-a cause that defined much of her adult life. Since 1970, Peggy dedicated herself to both receiving and offering support within this community. Her unwavering dedication helped countless individuals find hope and healing over the decades. Peggy was truly a firecracker-an extrovert in every sense of the word. She had a flair for the dramatic and a magnetic presence that drew people in wherever she went. Always eager to learn something new, she devoured books on any topic that piqued her curiosity. Her love for reading was matched only by her passion for music-especially when it was loud-and for laughter, which she shared freely and often. She found joy in antique hunting, immersing herself in stories of the past through objects rich with history. She also loved attending the theatre, where her appreciation for drama and storytelling came alive.

Peggy's greatest treasures were the relationships she nurtured throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her son John Thomas Bradford (Debbie) Granddaughter Veronica Paige Bradford and daughter Jami M. O'Rourke (Zane). She also held dear the memory of her daughter Bonnie Bradford, who preceded her in death. She was the beloved daughter of Harold Krieger and Josephine Krieger (née Florjancic), both deceased. Peggy was preceded in death by her sister Judith Morehead but is survived by her brothers John Krieger and Dennis Krieger. She also leaves behind her cousin Gayle Fenzel (John Fenzel), whose bond with Peggy remained strong throughout their lives. Peggy's legacy is one of resilience, creativity, connection, and compassion. Her laughter echoed through rooms; her music filled hearts; and her commitment to helping others changed lives. May Margaret Ann "Peggy" O'Rourke's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her-and may we all carry forward a bit of her firecracker spirit in our own lives.

Peggy was truly a good friend. I could always count on her good advice. She always laughed at my bad jokes. I think she is definitely smiling in heaven. I dedicate to her the Irish Blessing "until we meet again".

Peggy & I worked together for years. She was one of the most clever and wise people on earth. We shared many secrets and jokes alike. I was fortunate to know her. May her memory always make you smile. I am sorry for the loss. Peggy was awesome, I´m sure she´s smiling in heaven.

Peggy was our neighbor in Ft Myers and we were very fond of her, especially our little dog rat terrier Sami. Loved her presence, always laughing with her, she was always attending her plants and had a remarkable green thumb! Her obituary was spot on. She is finally home with her Lord and smiling.

A strong and complex woman- just like her daughter Jami, who is one of my most cherished friends. Rest in power, Peggy. You were a force

John and Jamie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. No words can assuage the grief. You are suffering now, but remember all of the good times and how she loved you so much those will never go away.
