Margaret (Peg) Jane Schobert passed away on April 2, 2013. She was born November 29, 1953 in Akron, Ohio.

She lived her whole life in the Akron area, graduating from Garfield High School in 1971, and attended the Univ. of Akron.

Preceded in death by her mother, Peg is survived by her daughters, Jessica Nicole Schobert and Chelsea Lynn Schobert; her father; four siblings; and many nieces and nephews. She will be laid to rest with her loving husband of 28 years, Jeffrey E. Schobert, Esq.

Peg once owned her own business, Technical Resource Services, where she met many of her early connections to the legal community. She had currently been employed at the law firm of Hanna, Campbell, and Powell.

Peg became the first female to be allowed to take auto mechanics at Garfield High School, challenging the system to be permitted. She also brought the first live "Ram" to the Rubber Bowl as the mascot for the Garfield High Golden Rams football team, once getting rear ended on Triplett Blvd. only to have the Ram escape from the car, running down Triplett Blvd.

Peg volunteered time as a volunteer for children with special needs for the Akron Rotary Camp, along with her husband Jeffrey. She was heavily involved in volunteering at Archbishop Hoban High School for the Mock Trial Program with her husband as well as being the co-chair of Annual Extravaganza. Peg was involved with the Junior League, and many other local charities. She sponsored children in Africa and dedicated her life tirelessly to volunteering and serving others. Growing up, Peg was an avid water skier, participating on the Lewiston Ski Team, while spending summers on East Twin Lake in Lewiston, Mich., She always loved boating, jet skiing and riding snow mobiles.

Peg will be missed by family, friends, and coworkers.

On occasion, a special, one-of-a-kind person enters your life and changes it forever. Jeffrey Schobert was this person. He dedicated his entire life to tirelessly serving others and his kindness and generosity knew no bounds. His unselfish spirit, keen mind and love of life were readily apparent to all who knew him.

Jeff was blessed with an equally loving and supportive life partner when he married his wife of 28 years, Margaret (Peggy). Together they raised two beautiful daughters, Jessica (23) and Chelsea (18).

His strong work ethic led him to become one of Ohio's most predominant lawyers. Since 1987, Jeff represented physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers throughout the state of Ohio, and argued a number of cases before the Ohio Supreme Court dealing with medical malpractice.

In honor of his accolades in the courtroom, Jeff Schobert was elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates as an associate member in January 2003. He was also named one of Ohio's Super Lawyers from 2005 to 2011 and was named one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2006.

Jeff also dedicated his time and resources to helping local groups and organizations. He served as a former board member of the Akron Rotary Club, a camp for children with special needs, and continued to dedicate scholarships to children who could not afford to attend the camp. Jeff also shared his legal experience and knowledge with students at Archbishop Hoban High School by serving as a coach of one of its Mock Trial Team, and was a former mentor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Akron has been Jeff's home since his birth on July 13, 1956. He spent his childhood playing sports, reading comics, and cheering for Cleveland. He was fortunate enough to be alive the last time Cleveland won a championship in 1964. His intelligence and strong work ethic shined brightly when he became an entrepreneur at age 16, starting and running a successful lawn care business called Quality Lawn Care. Jeff graduated from Firestone High School in 1974 where he reluctantly swam on the swim team after many unsuccessful attempts to make the basketball team.

His high level of success in the classroom and in business earned him an acceptance letter to Harvard. Jeff instead opted to stay local and attend The University of Akron before transferring and finishing his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University in 1982. He then proceeded to obtain his Juris Doctorate from The University of Akron, where he graduated with honors in 1986.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Schobert. He is leaving behind, his two daughters, Jessica and Chelsea; his mother, brother (wife, two sons, and daughter); and his sister (husband, two sons, and daughter).

The sudden loss of Jeff is immeasurable to those who knew him. He truly transcended the title of friend or family member with his unconditional love and support. Despite his passing, he will never truly be gone, as his memory will live forever in the personal relationships he forged and the lessons he taught to those fortunate enough to meet him.

Memorial contributions can be made to Archbishop Hoban High School's Jeff and Peg Schobert Memorial Fund and Scholarship. Contributions will fund the mock trial team and give one member an opportunity to earn a college scholarship. Donations can be sent to 1 Holy Cross Blvd., Akron, OH 44306. A memorial service will be held Friday, 1 p.m. at The Chapel in Green, 1800 Raber Rd. Please visit hummel-cares.com where condolences and memories may be shared.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jeff and Peg. I hung around Peggy in grade school up until high school. I was an 8th grade cheerleader with her, attended numerous parties and sleepovers and even had the privledge of going up to Michigan with her where she taught me how to water ski. We drifted after high school but I always had very fond memories of her. I will truly miss her. My heart goes out to her family. May God bless you all.

Marguerite and I learned of this tragedy only recently.

I began reflecting upon how welcome all of us kids in the neighborhood were welcomed at the Schobert Auburndale home. How we tortured Steve and Jill. I listened to Steppenwolf for the 1st time in Jeff and Steve's room.

I recall with fondness how in '72, Jeff and I walked down Garman Rd and across the FHS football field all winter long to attend swim paractice - We referred to the field as THE TUNDRA and viewed ourselves as having conquered nothing less than Admiral Bird each winter AM. After that year - Jeff got a car and picked me up every AM.

One 'snow day' in '72 Jeff called and said - "bring a shovel and get over here" - We went over to Hollywood Ave. and shovelled driveways all day (no Snow blower).. we made $50 a piece ... in '72 - a lot of dough.

We all worked for Quality Lawn Service ... The whole neighborhood !!

Of course - We all went our separate ways but M and I reconnected in restaurants of late and although Jeff had lost some hair he NEVER lost that gracious smile and the twinkle in his eye.

That is what I never want to forget.

What a tragic loss to our community and to our lives. Jeff and Peg were so kind to our family and welcomed us with open arms when we moved our girls to St. V years ago. They embraced our oldest daughter as one of their own and she loved them as much. We are heartbroken and our prayers and love to the family of Jeff and Peg. Never a candle burned as bright.

Peggy and I went to high school together, and it wasn't until our 35th reunion did I see her again. She asked how I was doing, and I answered very good other than having a run-in with colon cancer. To this she exclaimed, "Bummer!" And I laughed inwardly thinking, "Well put, and with a term we often used in the 70's" Now I ponder this terrible tragedy and think how often I forget that life can be quite harsh - bummer!

Perhaps the best evidence of a life well lived is the degree to which we enrich the lives of others, and thereby change the world for the better. These two extraordinary people touched the lives of many through their personal involvement, generosity and gentle spirit. We hope that the legacy of their selfless lives brings some much needed peace to the families of both Peg and Jeff.
