Margaret Wiltse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 9 to Dec. 11, 2011.
Wiltse, Margaret A.
Feb 16, 1932 - Dec 8, 2011

Margaret Ann Wiltse, 79, died at Brookestone Village, Omaha. She was visited daily by loving family, devoted friends and neighbors, and wonderful caretakers over the past several months. She was born Margaret Ann McCoy in Omaha in 1932, and grew up in Lincoln during the Depression and World War II. She climbed mountains in Colorado, majored in mathematics at the University of Nebraska, received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Julliard School of Music, was a concert pianist and piano teacher, lived solo in the wild west of New Mexico in the late 1950s, and lived at various times in New York, Baltimore, and Los Angeles. As a girl, she traveled throughout the country with her father on business trips, and as a senior citizen, she traveled the world with her beloved husband, Dr. Hobart Wiltse, including trips to Russia, the Galapagos Islands, and Antarctica among many others. Above all though, she loved living in Omaha, cheering on the Cornhuskers, raising her sons, being married to and supporting her husband, and growing old in the same home for over 40 years. She loved music, nature, the arts, strong coffee, and a nice glass of red wine. She was pretty cool, and a great mom too. She is survived by 2 sons and their spouses, John Wiltse and Melinda Knox, Lake Oswego, OR, Todd Wiltse and Linda Rosul, Chicago, IL; and 1 granddaughter, John and Melinda's daughter, Piper Wiltse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Hobart Wiltse, in 2007.
In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Opera Omaha and the Omaha Symphony. Funeral arrangements are pending. HEAFEY-HEAFEY-HOFFMANN

I am so sorry to hear of Margaret's death. We met Margaret and Hobe during our travels to the Galapagos several years ago. She often sent letters in response to my greeting cards, and we enjoyed hearing the day-to-day details of her life and family. Since we shared a love of roses, we always talked about our rose gardens. Hers must have been beautiful. When we didn't hear from her for several months, and didn't get a Christmas card, I googled her name and got her obituary. I hope she died a beautiful and peaceful death, because she was a beautiful and peaceful woman. Our sincere sympathy to the family.

Our sympathy on the loss of your loved one. Margaret will be missed by all who knew her. We only met Margaret a couple of times, while taking Arlene Dvorak to vist, but she was a wondedrful lady. Our thoughts are with you.
