Marian Raver Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 12, 2014.
Marian V. Raver was born January 21, 1921 to Laura and Elmer White in Howell County, southern Missouri. After moving around a lot during the Great Depression the family moved to Denver County. She graduated from Garden Home School in 1940 and married LaVelle Raver that same year. They had a daughter, Sharon, in 1942 and a son, Rodney, in 1947.

Marian was a Blue Bird leader (Camp Fire Girls) and later a Cub Scout leader to her children. She was a partner in the family business, LaVelle's T.V. Service. She greatly enjoyed the four grandchildren as they came along and later, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and regular meetings with former school friends, some of which still meet after 70 plus years. For a number of years she belonged to the Barnum Senior Center where she took classes in ceramics, quilting, art, and line dance and made many friends. Through the years, she and LaVelle enjoyed trips in their travel trailer and loved the beautiful outdoors and fishing trips. They each kept journals of the trips, which they read later and relived the wonderful times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Ed Roberts; sister, Opal (Bobbie) DeLiere; daughter, Sharon Humphrey; son, Rodney Raver and most recently, husband, LaVelle Raver.

She is survived by 4 grandchildren, Dana Cassidy, Michelle Schlund, Steve Raver, Vince Raver. (Enjoyed and loved all) 5 great-grandchildren, Karra, Logan, Kenzie, Kayla and Michael; 4 great-great grandchildren, Dacien, Isaac, Kain, Kael.

A visitation with her family present will be held from 10am-12pm, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 with funeral service following at 12pm, at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel, 7777 W. 29th Street, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, 80033. Burial will follow at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.

MISSING YOU SO MUCH GRANDMA, IT HURTS KNOWING I CAN'T JUST CALL YOU ON THE PHONE TO "CHECK IN" ANYMORE- I LOVE HOW OUR LITTLE "TOUCHING BASE " CALLS WOULD TURN INTO 2 HOUR CHATS & CHUCKLES. I KNOW YOU HAVE GONE ON AHEAD AS YOU WANTED , BUT IT IS STILL TOUGH FOR THOSE OF US STILL HERE. YOU ARE MY TREASURE I WILL HOLD DEEP IN MY HEART FOR EVER. "SQUISH YOU TIGHT"

We miss Aunt Marian more than words can say. We enjoyed "spoiling" her when we could (and when she'd let us). WE felt better when she did accept our gifts and meals so WE thanked her for letting us do that. We miss our talks on the phone. We miss her wit. We miss learning more about her family history. She and my Mom (Opal/Bobbie) were very close and depended on each other not only as sisters but as friends and confidants. I never got the feeling they thought they were "half" sisters either. They accentuated the positive and brought out the best in each other I think. We are at peace knowing Aunt Marian is reunited with the family that has gone on before her and that she is no longer suffering. We are so blessed to have had her for over 93 yr.!

Our world lost a beautiful spirit when Mrs. Raver passed away. She left behind so many that loved and admired her .She was our neighbor for fifty-five years and each day she was a blessing. She had an amazing work ethic, great integrity, kindness and so caring. She was one of a kind! We will never forget her and we will do our best to honor her and her legacy

Mrs. Raver lived next door to my grandparents my entire life and has been the sweetest and most kind lady. She was not just a neighbor but a family friend. She watched me and my cousins grow up, as well as my daughter Angelina and of course my father before me. My heart aches and we will miss her dearly. I can't imagine anyone else in her little home and not seeing her smiling face but I'm grateful that she is at peace now. My most sincere condolences to her family.

Our sympathy goes out to all her family and loved ones. Marian will be missed by many, She wrote in the cousins letters and all of us will miss hearing for her.
God bless all, our prayers for the family.

Marian was my Blue Bird leader, I was invited after the meetings to have dinner with the family, My favorite was tuna gravy on toast. Shary was my best friend and I miss her so. Marian was like a Mother to me, I was so lucky to have both in my life. Sharon Rubey

My grandma was so much more than just "grandma"! She was also my adviser, my confidant, and even my friend! She was the only person in the world that has been in my life since the day I was born. I smile knowing grandma will always be with me!
