BANGOR AND OLD TOWN - Marion C. Carrier, 83, died peacefully September 21, 2015 at her Bangor residence. Marion was born in Old Town, ME on Oct. 28, 1931. She was the fifth of 16 children born to John and Isabelle (Taylor) Baker.
Marion worked for 35 years in the Cafeteria and Kitchen at Stodder Hall at the University of Maine - Orono. She enjoyed time spent with her children, her grandchildren, ice-skating, biking with her husband, swimming, and growing flowers in her gardens. She was very creative. She and her husband built dollhouses and doll furniture for herself and her granddaughters. She made many floral wreaths for family, friends, and for decorating at Stodder Hall. She also made fabric dolls. Marion was a member of Holy Family Parish of Old Town, ME for most of her life.
Marion is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years, Victor J. Carrier; her daughter, Jeanne (Adams) Ott and husband Allan of Bar Harbor, ME; her son, Lawrence S. Adams and wife Nancy of Kennebunk. ME; her stepson, Joseph V. Carrier and wife Lupe of Rotan, Texas; six grandchildren: Samantha Adams and her husband Mark Bullock of Portland, ME; Maxwell Adams and Caley Ostrander of Brooklyn, NY; Kelsey (Adams) Snyder and her husband, Andrew of Sanford, ME; Brooke Adams of Kennebunk, ME; Joshua Carrier and wife Angelina of Garland, TX; Jada Carrier and Michael Reinhardt, Killeen, TX; Autumn Carter and her husband Josiah of Ellsworth, ME; four great-grandchildren, Anson and Jace Carrier of Garland, TX; and Patrick Reinhardt of Killeen, TX; and William Carter of Ellsworth, ME.
She is survived by six sisters and four brothers: Theresa Algard of Watertown, SD; Mary Blair of Veazie, ME; Ruth Grindle of Old Town, ME; Rose Bishop and her husband Richard of Westerly, RI; Leona Gagnier of Port Orange, FL; Joan Knuti of Rock Hill, SC; Richard Baker and his wife Myrtle, of Old Town, ME; Charles Baker and his wife Susan of Uncasville, CT; Joseph Baker and his wife Mary (Mimi) of Lee, ME; David Baker and his wife Gloria of Milford, ME. She is also survived by several sister and brother-in-laws: John Jalonski of Waterford, CT; Frank Carrier of White Rock, B.C. Canada; Claude and his wife Evelyn of Auburn, MA; Theresa Fortier of Sabattis, ME; Francoise Giroux of Lac Megantic, P.Q. Canada; Germaine Carrier of Orleans, Ont. Canada; Sr. Helene Carrier of Sherbrook, P.Q. Canada; Fernande Bisson of Richelieu, P.Q. Canada; Marie Blanche Tetreauit and her husband Gilles of Cramby, P.Q. Canada; Isabelle Busque and her husband Andre of Beloeil, P.Q. Canada; Elisabeth Carrier and her husband Rene Cote of Chambly, P.Q. Canada; a dear life-long friend Lois Morin of Old Town, ME; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marion was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence C. (Pop) Adams; her infant daughter Jeannette Adams and her infant son Benjamin Adams; her parents, John and Isabelle Baker; her two brothers: John Baker and Patrick Baker; her three sisters: Helen Varney, Rita Jalonski, and Lillian Kafka; three sisters-in-law: Jeanne d'Arc Poulin, Marie Paul Carrier and Ann Carrier and twelve brothers-in-law: Gerald Blair, Robert Varney, John Knuti, Lawrence Grindle, Ernie Kafka, James Algard, Raymond Fortier; Eloi Racicot; Gilles Bastien; Fernand Giroux; Joseph Poulin; and Jean Maire Bisson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Saturday at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, Old Town. A celebration of life gathering will follow in the Holy Family Parish Hall. Graveside services at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Old Town, will be private.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice of Eastern Maine - Dr. Van Kirk, David, Lou, Sheryl, Heather, Tricia, Jessica; to Marion's friends and neighbors at Longrale Park; to her sister, Ruth Grindle; to her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Susan Baker; and to Victor's brother, Claude.
