Marjorie Howarth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 18 to Feb. 19, 2004.
Marjorie Liddle Howarth 1932 ~ 2004   Our beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother succumbed to cancer on 14 February 2004. She passed away quietly at home with her much loved husband at her side.  Marjorie was born 24 Oct 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Arthur Leroy and Marjorie Liddle.  She graduated from East High and attended the University of Utah. On 31 Aug 1951 she married Lynn George Howarth in the Salt Lake Temple. Her greatest love was for her family. She was very creative, and well known for her sewing and baking (everyone remembers mom's rolls). She loved music, and took organ lessons, with her husband, for the last ten years of her life. She served in the Cub Scouts for 30 years; she attended her last Cub meeting on January 28th.  An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she had many callings throughout her life, including Primary president and Relief Society president. In 1994 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. With treatment she fought it off, but then was diagnosed in 2002 with the return of the cancer that finally took her life. She is a wonderful example of endurance, remaining courageous throughout her ordeal and valiantly taking the pain without complaint. She is survived by her husband, Lynn; her sisters Dona Rae Bennett, Sharon Mears, and Linda Patrice (Ross) Farrer; her children Julia (Brook) West, Diane (Stephen) Anderson, Connie (Jake) Forbis, Laura Simmons, Wendy Howarth, Susan (Lee) Kunz, Jeffery Lynn (Janice) Howarth, Steven George (Mickie) Howarth, Valerie (Robert) Scarbrough, and Holly Howarth; 30 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  We will all miss mom very much.  Viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary, and an hour before the funeral services at 1p.m. on Saturday, February 21, at the Orem Hillcrest 4th and 5th Ward Chapel, 4th East and 8th South, Orem. Interment at Orem City Cemetery.
