Mark Schenker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 22, 2024.
Mark Schenker passed away on October 7, 2024. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, at Jewish Hospital on August 19, 1951, he was one of five beloved children of Mary and Felix Schenker. Mark grew up with a strong work ethic and deep values that would shape his life and career.

He married Maria Alvarino (deceased), the love of his life, in 1967, they settled in North Miami Beach and raised a family. Mark is survived in life by his sons Brian, Eric, and Matthew. His brothers, Danny and David. His grandchildren Madison, Emelee, AJ, Dylan, Jocelyn and Giovanni; each of whom brought him immense joy.

Mark lived a life marked by dedication to family and friends and consistency in support of others. He made his home in several parts of Florida, from Miami Beach, Coral Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Boynton Beach, and finally settled in Lighthouse Point. His career included numerous automotive dealerships over the years, making lifelong friends at Fronrath Chevrolet before moving to Sheehan Buick GMC in 1997. During his years as Collision Manager, he brought attention to detail and passion for quality of work. Known as a straight-shooter, Mark never hesitated to share his honest opinions-good or bad-earning the respect of his colleagues and friends alike.

After retiring from Sheehan in 2023, Mark enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, particularly riding his bike and walking his dog Snow through his neighborhood. He visited his son Eric's business on a frequent basis offering advice and great conversation. He was known as an early riser, most days up before dawn to enjoy a cup of coffee. His daily routine included a phone call to his sons and genuine conversation with employees and customers alike. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Quantum Apartments, 525 NE 7th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 from 6pm to 9pm (valet parking available at the Courtyard Marriott which is located across the street). I used to spend Saturdays with him, eating lunch at his favorite places and making memories I´ll never forget. He always had a way of making me smile and laugh, no matter what. Ever since I was a little boy, he was my favorite grandpa, someone I looked up to. Those moments we shared hold a special place in my heart and always will. In life, we have to live each moment to the fullest because every day brings something new, but I never imagined I would have to face a day without him. May he rest in peace, with the love of his life, where their spirits can be together once again.

Mark and his family were my neighbors when I was a kid. Such fond memories of playing Marco-Polo with Mark, his wife, Maria, and sons, Brian and Eric, in their pool on summer days. Mark was like a big kid who helped make my childhood fun. Always enjoyed the company of a man I considered a second father. He will be missed.

Mark was an amazing neighbor. Just the week before he passed, I had knee surgery and Mark was going out of his way offering to help walk my dog and bring me lunch. He was one of the most self-less individuals I had ever met and he will be truly missed.
