Marshall Weingarden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 19 to Jan. 21, 2024.
Easton, MD - Born 1930 in Brooklyn; raised there and in Queens, Marsh remembered when milkmen used horses, bagels were cement donuts, and the Dodgers played the 1941 World Series. He studied engineering, graduated from U. of Michigan where he hosted one of the first toga parties and celebrated the 1951 Rose Bowl victory the month of his graduation. In New York he began his long & fruitful career as a packaging designer, salesman & inventor with multiple patents on packages for educational publishers. His Columbia U. master's thesis on consolidating air cargo into containers helped revolutionize this industry. Marshall was a car enthusiast and owned one of the first stateside Aston Martin DB-2/4s. He enjoyed international travel and yet could find all the payphones in Manhattan. A friend often said, "There are 8 million stories in NY and Marshall has all of them". He lived more than 93 years, spending 30 of his adult years in Manhattan, 30 years in Haworth, NJ and the last 10 years in Easton, MD - enjoying time with family & friends. Despite various health challenges, he had a long, happy life. Devoted husband to Barbara (Burns); wonderful father to Alison; fun granddad to Marco. Affectionate father-in-law to Paolo & brother-in-law to Cindy. Loving son to Esther & Harry; steadfast brother to Ann, who predeceased him. Donations to JDRF or Mount Sinai Hospital appreciated.

So sorry to hear this. Marshall hadn't been in touch for a while so I worried about his well being. My first memory of Marshall is him sitting in the Russian tea room with a tall beautiful woman. I must have been with his sister Ann. Otherwise, there would have been no way we could have met. I remember Ann saying, "My brother is always with a tall beautiful woman." Everyone was devastated by Ann's death. I clearly remember Marshall's wonderful mother and Marshall at that time. Marshall always managed to stay in touch, probably mostly as away of maintaining some contact and memories of his Ann, who died way too young. He often spoke lovingly of his Alison, his daughter, Barbara. his wife, and how much he was enjoying his new home outside of New York. Marshall, I hope and pray you are enjoying your new adventure.
