Marvin Marsh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 17, 2022.
We celebrate the life of Marvin Paul Marsh, husband, partner, father, grandfather, brother, musician, friend, colleague, and community leader. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Jeff) and Theodore (Ted), grandsons Jesse and Nathaniel (Nate). He will be dearly missed by his loving partner for the last ten years, Sandra Kastle.

Marvin was the youngest child of Issador and Bessie Marsh. Born in Sioux City, Iowa, the family relocated to Southern California after Marvin completed his army service in WW2. In 1952, Marvin married Charlene Levin and they shared almost 60 years together before she passed in 2011. Together, Charlene and Marvin shared many joyful activities including domestic and international travels.

As a young man interested in playing the piano professionally, Marvin attended the music department of USC before transitioning into technical fields of study. He began his career at Technical Products Company in Los Angeles as a Technician and proceeded to garner the education and training to advance to the position of Applications Engineer. Demonstrating a natural talent for sales and marketing, he was hired as Marketing Manager to build up a new venture, the Vibrations Instruments Company, a spin-off from the Electrac Corporation located in Anaheim. Along with his business partner, Lyle Wells, they successfully grew that business. After a decade, those two went off to create their own company, Trig-Tek, which happily prospered over the two decades that followed.

During his career, Marvin served two terms as the President of the Los Angeles chapter of the Institute of Environmental Sciences. After he retired, Marvin held several positions with the Temple Beth Emet Men's' Club including the role of President. Marvin also taught several classes through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

Through his entire life, Marvin's piano playing was appreciated by family, friends and so many others. Marvin sharing his love of music, particularly in performing the 'standards', is a memory all of us will share.

I spoke to Marvin more than any other client over a span of 32 years. I really enjoyed our spirited conversations and always enjoyed helping him reach his financial goals. I will miss him terribly.

Marvin was the best father-in-law. I enjoyed our many visits together, RummiKub games, and lots of laughter. The standout memory for me is Marvin at the head of the table leading us through the Passover Seder with Chuckie presiding over dinner for 20.
