Mary Albers Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
Mary Ann Albers (née Delahunt), 88, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Born on May 20, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, Mary lived a full and vibrant life. Beloved daughter of John Delahunt Sr. and Dorothy Delahunt. Her early years in St. Louis laid the foundation for a life filled with warmth, creativity, and deep devotion to family and community.

Mary shared a loving marriage of 68 years with her husband, Russell Albers, whose companionship was a constant source of strength and joy throughout their lives together. She is also fondly remembered by her siblings: John Edward Delahunt and his wife Sara, and her brother Bishop William McCabe Delahunt.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Michael Albers and his wife Donna; Sheila Cavanaugh; Sharon Holley and her husband Lonnie Stuber; and Mark Albers and his wife Donna. And to her six grandchildren: Kate Scherman, Jack Albers, Kirsten Holley, Ryan Cavanaugh, Stephanie Paddock, and Alec Albers-each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. Her heart expanded even further with the arrival of five great-grandchildren: Addie and Fiona Scherman, Lydia Albers, Rhys Paddock, and Henry Cavanaugh.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Mary's faith was a guiding light that shaped her values and relationships. Mary had a vibrant personality marked by wit, thoughtfulness, and an enduring sense of care for those around her. She was a gifted storyteller whose tales could captivate any room. She was a lover of the arts and had an adventurous spirit; which led her to travel widely and have unforgettable experiences across the globe.

At home, Mary's kitchen was often the heart of celebration. She loved to cook and entertain guests. Whether hosting intimate dinners or lively gatherings, she created spaces where laughter flowed freely and memories were made. Mary's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on November 15th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist 625 111th Ave N Naples, Florida.
