Mary Eleanore Cahalan Morris, 93, of San Jose, California, passed away on February 24, 2024.

Mary was born in Oak Park, Illinois and later moved to San Jose, where she grew up. After graduating college she moved to San Francisco. Later her family moved to San Pablo, California, then back to San Francisco after 7 years. In 1980 her company transfered her to San Jose where she spent the rest of her life. She was a dedicated employee of the St. Paul Insurance Companies, retiring in 1989 after over 20 years of service.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Suzanne Morris and brothers Thomas, William, and James Cahalan. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas, Sr. and Dorothy Cahalan, her brother Fr. Patrick James Cahalan, SJ, and sisters-in-law Janet Cadile Cahalan and Maureen Freeland Cahalan.

Mary attended St. Patrick's School and Notre Dame High School in San Jose before furthering her education at San Jose State University. She was a faithful member of St. Victor's Church in San Jose.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, and music. She was active in the Democratic Party donating and, in the 1960's, registering voters. She always voted. She supported many charities and was very generous.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the St. Claire Chapel at the Mission Santa Clara Cemetery, located at 490 Lincoln St., Santa Clara.

A Celebration of Life to follow at the home of William Cahalan. Address to be available after Mass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Victor's Church and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

The Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara, California is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
