Mary Clarke Obituary
Eileen's greatest joy was her family. Her loving husband and children survive her: John Clarke, now of Glenmont, NY, Katherine (Jeremy) Gregory of Arlington, MA, Andrew (Lynsey) Clarke of Pelham, NY, and Ellen (Steven, aka. Smitty) Verrone of Boonton, NJ. Her heart overflowed with pride for her seven beloved grandchildren, who brought light and delight to her every day: Thomas Clarke Gregory, Benjamin Clarke Gregory, Darcy Elizabeth Towers Clarke, Elizabeth Clarke Gregory, Giuliana Sara Verrone, Maria Assunta Verrone, and Elena Towers Verrone.
Eileen always considered herself to be fortunate to come from a large family of 6 brothers and 3 sisters: John (Elizabeth) DeLaney of Syracuse, NY, Thomas DeLaney of Elmira, NY, Sara (Paul) Goldberg of Delmar, NY, Ann (Brian, deceased) Deacon of East Syracuse, NY, James DeLaney of Elmira, NY, Paul, deceased (Micki) DeLaney of Festus, MO, Justin (Joan) DeLaney of Elmira, NY, Margaret (Peter) Radez of Horseheads, NY, and Joseph (Cindy) DeLaney of Cape May, NJ.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY, 13027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 9:30 am in Catholic Family of Epiphany Parish, 1001 Tulip Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The Friends of the Bethlehem Public Library were blessed to know and work with Eileen. She helped with our book sales by posting signs throughout her new town. She and John worked on the signs together delighting in learning about a few new localities. She was always so positive, and radiated such warmth . As I gathered the signs she had just placed, I marveled at the creativity in her placements.

Eileen and I were college roommates for 2 years, and I was with her when she and John met. Our friendship remained strong through all of these years. How could it not....Eileen and I always reached out to one another. A short text, a fairly frequent long gab, and an occasional rendezvous. (We even included John for the in person get togethers. Oh, how I will miss you, dear friend.
Also, college buddies, across the miles, have sent their condolences: Joanne Hicks Adams, Sharry Strait-Carey, and Carol Bullock Verry.

I had only known Eileen a few months, from joining Delmar Progress Club. Her spark and excitement for whatever we were doing, be it in a book discussion, walking, working at a blood drive, made such an impression on me. She gave her all. I will really miss her.

Dear John & family... we are so, so truly saddened to hear of Mary´s sudden passing. Even though we´ve only been "next door" neighbors for such a short time, we absolutely adored Eileen & her warm, affectionate personality!
She always had that beautiful smile that radiated from within, & it conveyed such friendship & caring to all that she met! She will be dearly missed & we fondly remember all of the "back yard chats" that we shared with both of you. To the Clarke family: I have known Eileen for some seventy years...we went to school together from the 1st grade, all the way through HS. I had never seen her without a smile...and it was quite a smile! It filled a room. Know that I, and many others, are with you during this difficult time. I just met Eileen soon after she moved to Glenmont NY. She joined the Delmar Progress Club and radiated such joy and commitment to everything she did.
