Mary Veronica Neilson October 25, 1957 - January 11, 2016 It is with heavy hearts we announce that God has called home his precious daughter Mary Neilson, much beloved wife of Lawrence, mother of Andrew & Amy, daughter of Louise & William (deceased), sister of Tom & Michael and dear friend to extended family and many others.

Mary was a gift from God to all who knew her. Her ready smile, big laugh, larger-than-life personality, warm and caring heart, generosity and hospitality brought so much joy, encouragement and hope to so many. She poured her considerable energies into her family and friends and thrived on helping others. From childhood in St. Andrews and Fredericton, to RN and nurse instructor in Calgary and Vancouver, to dedicated mother, homemaker and prolific volunteer, Mary has left an indelible mark wherever she has gone and whatever she has done. She was a most beautiful example of Jesus to all who came in contact with her. Her wonderful life on earth is now complete and she will be greatly missed; however her perfect life in Heaven has begun and we celebrate that.

Her life will be celebrated at a memorial service at North Shore Alliance Church, 201-23rd Street North Vancouver, on January 23, 2016 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to the Paul Sugar Palliative Support Foundation or the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation Chemotheraphy.

This is sad news indeed. I knew Mary when we attended Fredericton High School together in the early to mid-70s and always felt at ease when I had the pleasure and good fortune to share her company during Glee Club productions and social events, just for instance.
Her wisdom and optimism were her calling cards in life, even back then. I am so glad she had such a profound positive impact on so many lives but then, that was Mary Best. My sincerest condolences to the Neilson family.
