Matthew Ballard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 15, 2024.
Matthew Sean Ballard was born on April 12th, 1967, in Livermore, CA, to parents Willis "Bill" Roger Ballard and Patricia Lou Ballard (Lambert). He passed away June 2024, in Loomis, CA, at the age of 57. He is survived by Christina Ballard, his two sons Dustin and Dylan, and three of his seven siblings: Michael, Renee, and Mark. He was also fortunate to have a large extended family.

Matthew was a skilled tradesman; primarily an electrician, having learned from his father. In addition to working electrical, he spent time doing handyman services, as well as working in the food service and retail industries.

He was a 1985 Del Oro High School graduate, proud member of the Placer County community, and helped advocate and support multiple organizations and city developments over the years. He greatly enjoyed donating his time and skills while working at the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center. Matthew also advocated and provided help for the less fortunate.

He was a coach of youth baseball and loved to watch his family and friends play sports. He enjoyed rooting for his beloved Raiders, as well as the Sacramento Kings. Matthew enjoyed camping, playing cards, board games, and classic video games. He could often be found riding his bicycle around town, and more recently, swimming at the nearby gym. He had a strong love for music, and would listen to a wide range of genres on any given day. He was an animal lover, raising and rescuing many dogs during his life.

I loved Matthew Ballard. He was my son-in-law, and he always treated me with love and respect. My fondest memories of him was seeing him interact with his sons, Dustin and Dylan. It was obvious that his boys meant the world to him. Matt you will always be loved and missed. Carmen Jimenez

Matthew and I were both active in Placer People of Faith Together organizing around mass incarceration. We met on the steps of the Capital volunteering with two separate organization to support prison reform. Matthew was instrumental in getting Prop. 47 passed. He worked on developing a re-entry program for probationers. He is former president of Placer People of Faith Together. He will be missed
