Matthew David Lance of Terrytown, LA passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the age of 47. Loving husband of Jennifer Birchfield Lance. Proud father of Caleb Matthew and Chase Daniel Lance. Son of Carol Uhrick Lance and the late Robert F. Lance. Brother of Robert Edward Lance (Chrysti). Son-in-law of the late Danny O. and Gwynn M. Birchfield. Brother-in-law of Stacie B. Kern (Donnie) and Jeanelle E. Birchfield. Uncle of Robert W., Corey Z., and Colette Lance, Donald III and Sydney P. Kern, Logan D., Dylan M., and Haley E. Birchfield. Matthew was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin and was a resident of Terrytown, LA for the past 42 years. He was proudly employed by Crescent Crown Distributing for approximately 20 years, was a long time committee member for Ducks Unlimited, belonged to the Triangle Hunting Club, he was an All Around Outdoorsman and an avid LSU Tiger Fan. Matthew fought a long and courageous battle until his very last breath. He fought very hard to be the "Best" husband, father, son, brother and friend to all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation at Mothe Funeral Homes, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 6 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verrette St., corner of Alix St., Algiers, LA from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 AM. Interment will be held at a later date. Family and friends may offer condolences at mothefunerals.com.
