Maudie Beatrice Van Hook

Maudie Edwards Van Hook, 98, of El Dorado, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home. She was born October 3, 1912 in Sequoia County, Oklahoma, to the late Luke M. and Rosie Pollard Edwards.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 53 years, J.T Van Hook, three brothers, four sisters and grandson Jeffery Taylor.

Maudie and her late husband were the owners and operators of Van Hook's Grocery for more than 40 years. She loved to travel and play Rook with her friends. She was a faithful member of the East Faulkner Church of Christ. She spent her twilight years at Oak Ridge Nursing Home and the family offers a special thanks to Taquilla Hicks, Angela Keel, Donna East and the staff.

Survivors include daughter, Barbara Taylor and husband Bennie of Spearsville, LA; grandsons, Butch Taylor of El Dorado, Keith Taylor and Raymond Taylor of Spearsville, LA; granddaughter, Nena Hendricks of Norphlet; great-grandsons, Jacob T. Taylor and wife Angelique of Spearsville, LA; and Clay Hendricks of El Dorado; great-granddaughters Katie Simpson and husband Robert of Monroe, LA; Wendy Taylor of Spearsville, LA. And Audrey Miller of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by six great great grandchildren, Aden, Zoe, Hunter, Wyatt, Bella and Olive.

Visitation will be Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Young's.

The funeral Service will be Tuesday, August 16 at 2 PM at the East Faulkner Church of Christ with Preachers Scott Johnson and Paul Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Craig Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Director's.
