Maurice was a wonderful soul. We feel lucky to be a small part of his story. He always was so kind and generous. For example, Maurice and his lovely wife cooked and provided food for our entire wedding party on our wedding weekend! He kindly spoke to everyone and made everyone was felt welcome in his presence.
Another fun memory we have of Maurice:
Ryan and I would always fight to be on Maurice´s corn hole team. He threw a mean bag! There was one family party where we ran the table!
Maurice was an avid camper, and Kelsey and I got to join him one night for a delicious dinner and fun card games around the campfire. It was a great night!
Love,
Kelsey and Ryan

Maurice always made me laugh!
Way back when, he was open to my then adopted son at the time, and played with him and then as I grew I created a new family and he loved them all too. Our girls LOVED him.
Most of my memories are from trips where we visited them in California or Maurice and Sandy came out to MN. We did meet up in CO too! I just always felt accepted by Maurice and we were goofy together at times an he seemed perfectly fine with my silliness. I just loved his docile demeanor and go with the flow attitude.
It breaks all our hearts that he is no longer with us.
He was always so thoughtful too. No matter where we were he´d always get our bags for us. But I can´t stop hearing certain Mauricisms in my head, like "mmmmmmhmmmmmm" or "yes, my love" is what he´d say to Sandy.
I have this really great Snapchat video of him with filter on saying "I love you Sandy" in a high pitched voice...Sandy is in the background saying..."what are you doing my love?" And then we all bust up laughing!

We made an arch from tamarack trees we cut and peeled on our property in MT. Tamarack (also know as Larch) are the strongest trees in our state. They are beautiful, colorful, solid, steady and true. Dedicated as "Maurice´s Arch."

This is completely random, and you don´t know me, but I´m sitting in the Liberty station park and enjoying the beautiful view when i realized that i am sitting on a bench dedicated to your incredible husband. I just had to look his name up, and I´m glad i did. He seemed like such an amazing and kind man. Sending you and your family so much love!

It's hard to believe that a year has now passed since we lost Maurice. Time hasn't diminished the void his absence has left in our lives, but I continue to feel so very fortunate to have known him.
When I think of Maurice, a smile comes to my face because I'm immediately reminded of his hearty laugh, his boundless kindness and generosity, and his gentle and welcoming nature. I remember how he'd go out of his way to help a friend load and haul lumber, or when one of our bicycles was stolen he gave us one of his, or the amazing surprise birthday party he organized for Sandy.
One of the things I miss most though is witnessing the immense love between Maurice and Sandy. The way they cared for and supported each other was beautiful, a partnership in the truest sense of the word...
I miss you friend.

Hi Maurice! I think of you often. When we hit the trail for a hike or jump on your hand-me-down Giant Bike, the memories come flooding in. Camping, biking and cooking epic dinners at Mcdowell Mountain. Hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail, broiling near Kennedy Meadows and you and Sandy giggling as Sacha made my tea with Lolo's dog food, or caring for Sacha in the tent when Sandy and I slogged to the top of Whitney. Never mind the bear that was sniffing around. Or calmly hiking the Narrows after a muddy flash flood roared through. I am lucky to call you friend. -Jeffrey

I taught him how to play Rummikub and he beat me every time. Then he would give me his great big smile.
How could I not love him. Mom McBrayer

We loved Maurice like a brother. He was the best of the best! One of the kindest, strongest, most gentle men I have ever known. We will miss him dearly but be forever grateful he has been such a big part of our lives the past 15+ years.

We've always felt so fortunate to have met Maurice, and Sandy..always feeling like they were a part of our extended family through my sister Geri Shea. He could aways make your vaction one to remember. Maurice was a gentle "giant"~ he was head and shoulders above most of us...but never made you feel small. If you know what I mean. We loved him like a brother, a friend and knew he was a perfect fit for Sandy from the minute you met him. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. May God hold you in the palm of his hand....
