Obituary

Maynard F. Lydiard, died Aug. 18, 2001 under the loving care of Hope Hospice House. He was born Nov. 23, 1925 in Hartford, CT and has been a FL resident for the past 20 years. Maynard served with the US Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1951 with a B.S. in Marketing, Burroughs Corporation School of Accounting 1952, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1973 with a MS in Management, University of Massachusetts in 1975 with a Doctoral course in Business, Certified Hotel Administrator in 1984. After moving to FL in 1980, he became the Vice Chairman of the board and President of Canada Captran Resorts International. He purchased Roadway Inn in 1983 then sold it as Red Carpet Inn in 1994 and retired. He was past President of Junior Chamber of Commerce, Past Commander of American Legion, Past Director of the Royal Order of Jesters, he was President of the Jesters of Florida 1990 - 1991; Campaign Manager for Sheriff John McDougall in 1988. He was also an active member of the American Legion, the Elks, the D.A.V. and Masons.

Maynard is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara H. Lydiard of Fort Myers, son Scott Lydiard and wife Susan of San Diego, CA; six step-children, Dana Hill of Middletown, CT, Kathleen Evans of Haines City, FL, Christopher Hill of Seymour, CT, Stephen Hill of Rowley, MA, Jennifer Slyvester of Texas City, TX, Tracy Owens of Sea Dirt, NJ and sixteen grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life led by Red Parham will be held at Araba Shrine Temple Auditorium on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. Reception following in the Red Fez Lounge.
