Mr. Mel was dad's close friend. He liked me pledging Que like hi m as my dad was a Kappa. Mr. Mel was a charter member of having helped establish Iota Nu chapter in Harford County Maryland. The chapter is still strong to this day with Brother Alston still a member after chartering the chapter with Mr. Mel over 50 years ago. Mr. Mel also let me drive his vw station wagon to my homecoming dance. I was a babysitter for him as well. We lived across the street in Perryman when I was in Jr. and high school. I pray for comfort for Ms. Betty and the family.

Mr McGee was one of my dad´s (Ted Adams Sr) best friends, and he became a father-figure to as well since Jerome was one of my best friends growing up. Living across the street in Perryman I spent many a day and night at the McGee house. When his brothers and sisters came to visit for cookouts parties or other celebrations, I was there. Jerome´s cousins were like my cousins. They stayed the weekend, and even though I lived 20 steps across the street, I spent the night as well in a very crowded house. I had a nice and comfortable empty bed at home, but nothing was better than sleeping on the floor with Jerome, Kenny, Vandan, and even the younger Hop and Keiguy(?). We played dominoes, cards, and bumper pool with the adults in one room and the kids in another. I loved riding in his convertible black VW bug and I loved watching him shift the gears of the 3-speed beetle. I also remember when he bought that silver Mercedes with the red leather interior. I loved the smell of that car. Mr McGee was the first person I remember owning a luxury car. I stopped by the house last year and spent a couple hours with him and Ms Bettie. I only wish I had taken the opportunity to visit more often. My father passed 10 years ago in 2014. I was fortunate to grow up and have Mr McGee as another "father" during my formative years as well. Indeed a double-blessing. My thoughts and prayers are with Ms Bettie, Jerome, and the rest of the family.

You had my condolences may God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I recall the many times Mr. and Mrs. Mcgee would invite my family over in the summer to fellowship with their family, enjoying the pool and Bushels of crabs.
